The final bird is small enough that it can be stuffed with a single olive; it also suggests that, unlike modern multi-bird roasts, there was no stuffing or other packing placed in between the birds. This dish probably could not be recreated in the modern era as many of the listed birds are now protected species.

Some friends of mine and I actually made a turducken for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. It's really, really labor intensive, and not something you'd want to do by yourself. It tasted good, but I don't think any of us will do another one.

I would love to try one if I could get one already prepared....

Last weekend while channel surfing I saw Chef Prudhomme prepare this with some of his buds in the kitchen...it sounds so rich though........
