Trent Lott Announces His Resignation

Good riddance!!! Another good ole boy of the Republican guard out the door!! His support of segregationist Strom Thurmond and his infamous "If the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years either." Sure he issued a hollow apology a few days later but yeah whatever...I know what kind of man he is.

The more of these old guard, intolerant political figures we have leaving the halls of Congress the better.

Isn't the reason for his resignation because of new lobbying laws coming into effect on Jan 1. If he had waited he couldn't lobby the government for 2 years and now he only has to wait 1 year.

Um, there's a pretty spectacular rumor involving Miss, er, Senator Lott and an, ahem, gay male escort. It's being plastered over the Net. Note that I've called it a spectacular rumor, so I'm not saying it's true. But just in case anyone hasn't seen the story yet (and I'm NOT vouching for its truth, mind you):

Apparently so. He stands to make a 7-figure income once he retires from Congress. It's no wonder why many of these current Senators and Congressmen are leaving to become lobbyists.

Well, Trent's brother-in-law and nephew were just indicted on state bribery charges, so maybe there's more than one reason why Miss Cheerleader Lott is stepping on down!
