Full Version: How Do You Wear a Cup? (serious question!)

Hey All,

Those of you who do, or did, play sports where you need a cup, how do, or did, you wear it? First, I am looking for some real advice here. I don’t care about your jock / cup fetish, or who think would be really “hot” wearing one. Again, they key is a substantive answer. I’ve wear them for karate, softball, and skateboarding (when I know I am going to be skating handrails). I really don’t like wearing them, and have yet to find a "comfortable" way. So far I have tired:

(1) Cup against skin with regular jock to hold it in place.
(2) Jock with cup holder built in (and some form of compression shorts over this)
(3) Compression shorts with built-in cup holder. (These are freakin’ nightmare!)
(4) Compression short with built-in cup holder, and then normal jock *over* that to hold cup in place (cuase the shorts themself don't do it)
(5) Compression shorts as base layer, and then some combination of either (1) or (2).

Without going into detail, each has their drawbacks. Some more than others. What have ya’ll found and as the most comfortable, yet still functional, way to wear them. Oh, and also, what sport did you wear it for? I imagine the activity you’re doing might have some effect on how you answer.

I've been wearing cups for 30+ years and I am not sure there is a 'comfortable' way to wear them - it is simply better than the alternative.

I have worn them for Football, Baseball, Wrestling, Rugby, and most recently for Karate...

I generally settle for your options #2 or #3 as the best I have been able to do.

Part of it is finding the RIGHT jock and cup though, different makes and mfg's make a big difference, and especially from sport to sport the requirements change.

What? You mean the original question didn't have some sexual hidden message behind it? tongue.gif
...You got to be kidding me, it was an honest question? rolleyes.gif

there's a new cup out there, i just got one... www.nuttybuddy.com

I wear #1. cup against skin under a jock... i don't like compression shorts, or
boxer briefs or anything with "legs"

im wearing it for martial arts.

otherwise i would imagine briefs with jock n cup over that would be a second choice.
I don't like the cup pouch in jocks i use regular jock.

ProDuke jock at walmart are the best.

When we spar in Kung Fu, we put on jock straps that have hard plastic pouches over our "pajama pants" or gees. I've been kicked in the nuts several times (which is fair play) and am extremely thankful for the cup. The only akward part is putting them on in front of the entire class. Although none of us are naked or anything, there's still something a little uncomfortable yet erotic about putting on a jock and/or watching other guys put one on in public.

Shock Doctor had a pretty good design a couple of years ago that was actually comfortable and protected fairly well, (I play hockey & lacrosse). Then they screwed it up by making the waistband narrower. It still seems to work better than the bikes and whatnot. I have found that wearing one over a pair of boxers works best, and I am sold on Patagonia capaline boxers. They absorb sweat and don't chafe when running or skating-

Yeah none of those ways work for me. every blow to the nutsack is a blow to the ground. very painful. But the way i do it is a nightmear too! But iys better than haveing your nuts crushed like nuts. Wear a pair of breifs. Not boxer briefs, BRIEFS a.k.a. TIGHTY WHITEYS. Put a jock over the breifs and put your cup in the cup holder in the jock. take a baseball and tap the cup all over to see if it hurts. bollom of nuts, end of your dick, then at the top of your dick, and all over. if it doesn't hurt have a friend kick you in the nuts to see if the cup works. it might hurt just a tiny bit. but i play baseball. before i had a cup on, i woul go get a ground ball (going very fast) have it take a bounce and hit me slam in my ballsack with escruciating pain or having it ride up my glove and hit the bottom of my nuts with is the worst because your nuts hand downward and it hits them the worst. if you never been hit in the nuts, it's like having a big cut , driving a rusted nail through it and stabbing the edges with a fork.

Have you consider wearing a jockstrap underneath your cupstrap? Let me explain...

I'm a hockey goalie. Goalie jocks are enormous things (Yeah, yeah, yeah, insert joke here). In addition to the cup itself, the jock has thick foam that extends up your abdomen. My particular brand (RBK) has 2 nested cups with 3 layers of foam (front, back and sandwiched between). All this foam makes it difficult to keep your nuts from falling down and wedging between your legs and the jock's edge. Now to the point...

I wear a tight strap (lycra Bike) next to skin to keep 'the boys' in place. Then I wear my goalie jock over top. This keeps everything in place AND protected.

When I played other sports that required a 'normal' cup, I found that the cup and strap's shapes really mattered. The original Banana cup fit me best, but it depended which strap I put it into.
