Yup. It kinda sucked. But what's bad for tOSU and college football viewers around the world is great for the people who want a playoff. We're getting closer folks.
Not until Pac-10 and Big 10 get that Rose Bowl thing fixed.
With the unexpected turn of events in college football, I can understand why some fans lost interest in the NCG, but I live in Baton Rouge, so obviously the game didn't bore me. It was a good game, well-played, except for a few times when players lost their cool (and tOSU players fist fighting amongst themselves in the lockerroom at half-time). I wasn't surprised by the game's outcome or score; always thought LSU would win if completely healthy. What surprises me is the misplaced venom being hurled at Tressel right now. I didn't understand why he didn't make adjustments earlier, and th eplay calling was unimaginative and archaic, but Tressel's guys played hard; they didn't quit. tOSU will give USC a tough game next season; those guys are hungry; they feel disrespected. So tOSU lost to LSU! It happens; some times the other guy is better. Word is Tressel is being pressed hard to fire both his OC and DC. Why? IIRC, tOSU appeared in the NCG three of the last six years? Who's a better fit for tOSU than Tressel? Who can do it better? Some things are perfectly matched: Tressel and tOSU is one of them. Pete Carrol and USC is another (he should stay at USC; Atlanta will eat him alive; just like it did Petrino; just like Washington did Spurrier). Tressel is a good coach. Look at his record. And tOSU is a good team.
Felt bad for the tOSU QB though; that guy got rocked; hit hard...but he got back up and stayed in the game, so earned my respect. IMO, what hurt tOSU more than anything in this game was lack of poise and fatigue. Last year, they couldn't hang with Florida and this year, even though they played harder, they couldn't keep up with LSU. I don't think it's because the SEC is faster. I think tOSU lost the last two NCGs because they weren't battle-tested (not enough close games). They came out gangbusters, but coudln't sustain it for four quarters. LSU had seven close games this season, so they were battle-tested, used to winning and losing close games, so they were better equipped mentally to slug it out for four quarters.
