Here at the Hillary Institute is his biography, and here the Radio New Zealand transcript of the report on his life and death.

How do you think the Obama camp is taking the news? biggrin.gif

Hopefully he won't lament the passing of the president of New Zealand (He supposedly made a reference to the "president" of Canada at one time. rolleyes.gif )

Actually Sir Edmund did hand's-on yeoman's work in a kind of Habitat for Humanity effort that he started to help the Scherpa who were his guides up the mountain. One of whom, Tensing Norgay, actually accompanied him on his famous first-ever climb to the summit of Everest.

The Hillary Institute was begun in the spirit of that humanitarian effort.

I saw "HILLARY DIES" in the paper and it made my heart skip a beat. Then I realized she was still with us, and I resumed my depression.
