Staff gives up pay for campaign....

Couldn't happen to a more offensive or repugnant candidate - okay, actually it could, but I'm still happy to hear of any problems in St. Rudy of 9/11's campaign (that's stolen from Keith Olbermann).

Please, let him drop out, and soon! He's a horrorshow.

February 5th will be the deciding factor for most of the candidates. Giuliani is taking the risk that he'll get enough of the February 5th states in order to stay in. If it backfires, he is done!

Considering he barely campaigned in Iowa or New Hampshire, how the hell is he out of money already? Using more money to pay for "protection" for the lady friend Rudy?

Remember, she's now the 3rd Mrs. Rudy, and likes to make calls and speak in babytalk when he's in the middle of speeches. Uh huh, that's the way to win over voters. What a scumbag. The sooner he's out of it the better.

goodbye ghouliani!!!!!!!

Hmm...I actually kind of wish Romney or Giuliani had won in order to stem off this McCain resurgence. McCain is my biggest worry in terms of the general election. He can appeal to independents and at the end of the day the Republicans will unite to vote for him in order to retain Rethuglican power in the White House.

YEAH, mccain is the most electable....

Rudy is right, the Republicans are the party of freedom provided you mean that kind of freedom Rudy meant when he said "Freedom is about authority". Scary fascist.

Well, I am growing less concerned about a potential McCain nomination - and I don't count Romney out yet either. Although current polls put McCain into statistical ties with both Obama and Clinton (IIRC), remember that Mike Dukakis was WAY ahead of King George I in 1988, only to completely flame out. McCain handed the Dems a great opening with his "100 years of war" statement; he's older than dirt; and the Dems have way outraised the GOP already this cycle. Although McCain may appeal to independents, his alignment with Bush will also hurt him there, and he is looking more and more like a Dole-ish candidate - nominated because no one else was better. I'm not saying he'll be a pushover to beat, but he is way vulnerable.

As for St. Rudy of 9/11 (thank you Keith Olbermann for that phrase), good riddance. Was it Biden or Dodd that coined the beautiful line "all Rudy has to say is a noun, verb and 9/11"? Whoever it was, they deserve about 1,000,000 bouquets of roses right now. I found myself really hating Rudy more and more as the campaign wore on (oh God, it's only January?!!) and am glad to see him out of it. May this be the last we hear from him.

From the blogs I read, it seems that the consensus is that McCain's only chance of uniting the GOP is if Hillary does it for him, but that Obama is the real threat to a GOP win. http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/casse/2145

McCain runs pretty strong among independents and, should Hillary be the nom, he'll get the conservatives by default. Hillary will be left with the votes of her anger-filled, post-menopausal, former-hippie brigade and we'll all go down in flames. Again.

I'm for Obama, but I want to see how he does in the various Feb. 5 super-primary states. He will have to win all of Gore's states plus a few more. I think Clinton could still eke out a win over McCain, but who knows? He can just say anything insane thing he wants--and please, let's not forget that when people say insane crap, like Bush did, they often mean it--and the media let him get away with it, because they love him. That's why I'm most afraid of him getting the nomination. But Romney isn't out of it yet. And he's so smarmy he just might turn the media off. So we'll see. I think Obama and Clinton both match up well against Romney. Against McCain, I think only Clinton could win, unless some right-winger jumps in as a third-party candidate.

BTW, isn't Bloomberg talking about stepping in if Hillary gets it? And now Nader's blustering about a run. Yep, thanks guys, take more votes from the Democrats and saddle us with more interminable Republican disaster. sad.gif

Instead of moving to California, I may make a move to Canada if the Democrats can't take back the White House. And if they don't, I'll probably switch to Independent. If the Democrats can't win the White House back after 8 years of all of this mess, I am through.

The biggest argument against McCain is his support for the Iraq war (otherwise, he's pretty liked by lots of Americans -- oddly, hated by his own party, but liked by the general population). Hillary cannot present a contrast to McCain on the issue since her votes mirror McCain's. I think Obama could offer a huge contrast to McCain, both in substance and in style. Obama opposed the war. McCain walked through some controlled environment saying "all is well".

Did you see McCain's "victory" speech the other night? I thought he was going to fall asleep during it. Now imagine a debate or competing news stories about the Obama campaign and the McCain campaign: one full of youth and life and vigor and excitement, the other tired and worn down. The impact would be like the Kennedy-Nixon debate x 1000.
