I know the year, is just about a month in.

But I am really liking Alicia Keys' No One.

Yes, it was released in '07. Yet, it's at the top of my playlist.

I also heard a remix of Jordan Sparks' Tattoo. I fell in love with it.

Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder and Lead." The album was release last May, but this new single just debuted at #51 on the country chart this week. LOVE it!

Does anyone know the title or who sings a dance song that goes to the left, to the left... to the right, to the right...?

I've heard it twice this year. I've heard it at Mardi Gras and at a club, I went to this weekend. It was so awesome seeing everyone do the dance, at Mardi Gras, in the street. As well as the crowded club.

I like Back to Black by Ms. Winehouse

Ausmusfan...I believe that is the Cupid Shuffle. It was quite the hit last summer at all the barbecues and picnics I went to. Old people and young people were jammin to it.

Here's the youtube link on how to dance to it.

The Cupid Shuffle

I haven't really gotten into new faves of '08 that I've liked. I've been on this 80s music kick so far this year. I've downloaded a lot of 80s music onto my ipod from Pat Benatar, Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, and others.

Thanks mdterp01

I'm kicking it to the 80's as well. Loading up on Michael Jackson, Debbie Gibson and Cyndi Lauper, lately.

I don't recognize one of those songs.

You might as well shoot me now.

But does a CD of arias by Andrea Bocelli count?

Scary, isn't it? But the chorus is so catchy...

I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

This year kinda sucked for music. My taste kinda went toward New. or Alternative, Rock.

Loved:
Into The Fire-Disturbed
Afterlife-Avenged Sevenfold
Not My Time-3 Doors Down
Train- 3 Door Down
Bad Girlfriend-Theory Of A Deadman
So Happy-Theory Of A Deadman

Also, just because I rooted for him in American Idol-
Time Of My Life- David Cook

Although it came out earlier in the year, lately I'm very much into "American Boy" by Estelle feat. Kanye West.

I'm also into this cover version of "Here You Come Again" that is used in the Swedish movie Patrik Age 15 (and plays on the website after the trailer). It's done at a slower tempo than the Dolly Parton version, and it's played at the part of the movie (SPOILER) where the gay couple gets back together again, so it has romantic evocations. I wish I knew who was singing it and if it was available for sale.

Jason Mraz - "I'm Yours." Also love his "Beautiful Mess." Way sexy, too.

and I guess Mika was last year, but I can't stop listening to his song "Happy Ending."

Also "Love Me Like the World is Ending" by Ben Lee.
George Twins fan
My favorite song so far this year is "Pork & Beans" by Weezer. It's a simple but really catchy pop tune with a great hook.

Best Pop album for me is a race between Kate Ryan's "Free" and Gabriella Cilmi's "Lessons To Be Learned" with Duffy's "Rockferry", JPL's "Break The Silence" and Kylie's "X" close behind.

I implore people to check out Gabriella Cilmi. YouTube her name. She is a hit all over the world and should be a hit here in the States. And she's only 16...soon to be 17. Her voice and mannerisms and presence is so mature that you would never think she was still a child. On songs, she can sound like shades of Debbie Harry/Blondie (Echo Beach), Anastacia, Amy Winehouse, Macy Gray or Dusty Springfield.

Kate Ryan's cd is pure pop perfection. A gay man's wet dream come true. Her video lack the production value of Madonna or Kylie, but she looks A-mazing in her latest video "I Surrender".

Contenders for singles of the year (to date) for The Duck:

"Mercy" - Duffy
"Viva La Vida" -Coldplay
"Break The Silence" - Jon Peter Lewis
"Sweet About Me" - Gabriella Cilmi
"I Surrender" - Kate Ryan
"Trying To Stop Your Leaving" - Dierks Bentley
