I read his book "It's Not About the Bike" and definitely appreciated it. And now that my father is going through the big 'C' for the second time, I'm going to reread this weekend...It's clear that Lance is somewhat of a tough personality, some may say that's a polite way of putting it, but he's very articulate about his experience and it's very educational about the whole subject.
