Gay Ally Gwendolyn Britt Dies, Sponsor of Maryland Marriage BillMost probably don't know who she is, but I have to give her some acknowledgement. She heavily advocated for the rights of gays and lesbians to have the right to marry. Very sad loss. Thank you Gwendolyn for all the work you did in trying to promote equal rights for all. Rest in Peace.

What a loss. The gay rights movement's especially. Not many such old-guard straight black allys out there. Who could possibly replace her in the
movement to bring equality to gay Marylanders? It seems difficult enough just to fill her position in the Maryland Senate.
With several friends and family in PG county it is good to learn of such a remarkable personality.
Thanks terp.

Well, ya know...I made it a point to post this because as was pointed out to me by someone in private message, there are straight black supporters of gay rights who don't get their credit by mainstream gay media, yet whenever one makes a homophobic comment or supports a homophobic organization the same media is quick to blog and chastize vehemently. Gwendolyn deserved to be recognized for her accomplishments, yet I bet there won't be the kind of positive attention paid to her as the negative attention paid whenever some moron shoots off at the mouth.
