THere used to be a topis on here for softball tournaments etc but i cant seem to find it. I apoligize if this is in the wrong thread.
We just competed in the Saguaro cup on Phoenix in the open B division. Any one else there competing. Just like to get an idea of what everyone else thought of the tournament.
Any thoughts on the upcoming atlanta tournament? We are headed to that one also.

Are you sure you'd want to know anything about Phoenix? They seem to be promoting the 1st World Out Game Rendez-Vous and not your precious Gay Games.

Most tournaments don't give results of individual games, just the top 3 or 4 teams in each division. I met (briefly) some Chicago players, but not sure what team they were from (I think the D team) or how they did.
Jeff, I thought the tournament was pretty competitive and fun. Pretty well-organized as well. I heard some complaints in the C Competitive division about some protests, but drama is always to be expected. I didn't like the fields we got stuck on Sat. afternoon/Sun. morning, but I realize with a tournament of this size not all the fields can be perfect. Closing party was cool, kickoff party not so much - partially because the drag king going to the hospital was a downer. All in all, I'd go again.

We're playing in our tournament July 4th weekend here in NYC and then going to Milwaukee for Labor Day.

I'll be picking up with a team to play NYC on July 4, and the team I play for during the season has won a World Series spot, so we'll be in San Diego in August for that. Anybody else??

Chicago T-Bagger's are going to Toronto on July 1st and we'll also try and defend our title in Milwaukee over Labor Day weekend. :-)

Yes!!! Playing here in the Twin Cities' North Star Classic this weekend (Memorial Weekend), then heading to Chi-town for the 4th.
I will be going to the World Series, but I am not expecting to play, just watch.

Barring the other B team in our league beating the Only A team who trounced them yesterday, we will be in San diego for the series in B division. Team is headed to Atlanta for Memorial Day weekend. And then we will probably play a straight tournment over fourth of july weekend as the straight league we play in will also be going by then.
I'll be staying at home to play our tournament this weekend, and going to Chicago over the 4th of July (no, I'm not KSig's stalker). Hopefully I'll be in San Diego, but only if my team makes it. Otherwise, maybe Seattle over Labor Day.

How the hell did they even have a tournament in ATL over Memorial Day weekend? It's been raining here since Sunday! Folks must have been absolutely miserable.

Canada Day marks the official founding of the country in 1867 with the union of Upper and Lower Canada (Ontario and Quebec now) with the eastern provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I suspect celebrations are similar to your July 4th.picnics, military reviews (especially in Ottawa on Parliament Hill), fireworks, parades etc.
Where will your softball team be playing? I'm off so might take in a game or two

Cool. Thanks for the history lesson.
Games will be played on Saturday at McLeary and Eastpoint on Saturday July 2, and at Eastpoint only on Sunday July 3.
Our team name is Chicago T-Baggers, we are playing 'C' division. I'm not certain where our registration on Friday night is as my email contact never returns emails and the website is STILL not updated. It would be awesome if you were able to check out a game.

I see the Canada Cup site has now been updated, however the site does not identify where most of the teams are from. I know Jackhammer and T-Baggers, in C division, are from Chicago. Anybody know where these other teams are from? I suspect most are from Toronto.

I will be picking up with another South Florida team (not the one I usually play for) and playing the New York tournament. Looking forward to it. I'm guessing that this team won't do real well in the tournament itself, but I really want to use this tournament to help get ready for the San Diego World Series, where I suspect that my team can do VERY well (if we bring the bats, because we have the defense to go pretty far).

So how did everyone do with their softball tourneys?
Kevin and I had a great time in Toronto at our first Canada Cup. The Toronto folks did a good job with their tournament and everyone there was so nice and friendly.
Had our team won it's first game in double-elim, we would have faced Travelpat's team. That would have been a fun, friendly rivalry. Instead, we lost and had to face our league rivalry, Chicago Jackhammer. :-( (by the way Pat, we thought your pitcher was a lot of fun - and very flirty, how come we didn't see him at the Sunday party?).
Unfortunately, our clean-up hitter and left fielder broke his ankle in several spots while trying to turn a single into a doulble. Needless to say he is done for the season. :-(

I got everything out of the New York tournament that I was looking for. I needed to play some games to get ready for the World Series, and I got them. Got to go to museums, and, even better, met a GREAT guy who I'm now dating, and decided to see if this relationship goes anywhere.
We did have an ugly experience with an umpire who made a sexist comment to a couple of my female teammates, but the tournament director handled it in a totally appropriate manner. Only disappointment -- knowing that the two C Division finalists from the NY tournament will be playing the World Series in B Division!!!

I have to say that the whole weekend in Chi-town was very enjoyable. Our team could have hit a little better, but the tourney was fun.

It is always nice to socialize with other teams.
As an added bonus, I was able to hit the beach AND the Art Institute. Woo Hoo.
Good to hear that everyone else had worthwhile trips as well. Maybe I will run into some of you at the World Series.
