Stealing ideas from the NHL? Reallly???
http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/artic...unsbox0125.htmlNow if they made the Knicks and Celtics play the weekend before the Super Bowl, I might tune in!

The Knicks and Sixers are playing tonight, and it's before the Super Bowl. Is that close enough?
I don't know that playing a game outdoors would have the same type of cachet. Sure, people play the game outdoors on playground courts and such, but I don't see that same mystique as the NHL had with its outdoor game.

If they wish to give it the same sort of nostalgic feel to it I believe they'd have to make some changes to the setup....
Get rid of the hardwood, throw down some asphalt.
No glass backboard, replace with steel. No twine netting, chains please(or maybe no netting at all)
Give it the urban playground feel that so many players from many generations have played on.
(Heck, why not just abandon the traditional four quarters of clock setup. First to 21 wins, win by two, winners outs, fg's count as one unless beyond the arc wherein it's two...and referees need not attend. Players will call their own fouls.)
