Interesting timing, no? While everyone's consumed with the political horse race between lesser evils?

Exactly. But it's not only waterboarding! These folks have been up to all kinds of torture, and have conducted extraordinary renditions of citizens of sovereign ally and enemy countries to secret torture sites and prisons, and have kept hundreds of people locked up indefinitely, without habeas corpus or trials of any sort.

This is only one small aspect of the lawlessness that plagues our government. Why is there not more outcry? And yes, Bush did LIE and say "we do not torture." Is he ever going to be held accountable for any of his lies? Ever?

There's no doubt that Bush has authorized the commission of war crimes and ought to be held accountable. Nothing will happen, though, as long as Republicans are willing to defend him. Democrats aren't about to risk their leadership position (such as it is) on Capitol Hill to take down someone who is "defending America".

Unfortunately, our national discourse has been so dumbed down that people actually admire Bush more for using Khmer Rouge-like techniques such as waterboarding. It's practically a requirement among the national GOP that you have to support war crimes or else risk being labeled a terrorist-lover.
