Full Version: Rodreguiez claims he and his family are receiving death threats
Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > Football, College

It's been two months since Rodreguiez moved to Michigan. Almost the entire fanbase ia happy he is gone.

WVU's administration and fanbase believe RR should man up and pay the 4 million dollars that's owed.

It's comical to see RR 2 months after accepting the Michigan position on ESPN and in the media crying about what happened at WVU. Shouldn't he be on camera praising the 17 4 star recruits ( Loyd carr's recruits) he signed this year? Michigan is allegedley the pinnacle of college football, yet they have a coach who all he wants to do is talk about how bad WVU is.........

What's the irony of this? HE IS THE ONE THAT LEFT. He wasn't fired. No one twisted his arm. Sure the administration was tired of his antics. WVU administration had to deal with numerous emails from his AGENT on suggestions ( not written in the contract) on how to improve WVU's football program ranging from turning Mountaineer field into a tacky/myrtle Beach billboard advertising atmosphere so RR and his agent could receive ALL INCOME. RR"s agent sent emails during the season there were many schools who were after RR"s services ( 3 months after RR signed the contract). WVU had enough and told RR and his agent they woudl adhere to what was written in the contract and in the spring would be willing to sit down and talk with RR on additional requests his agent was pushing for. Sounds more than reasonable considering the RR to Alabama fiasco just last year, right? Well, when RR came to WVU and stated Michigan offered him a position and wanted to talk about increased salary the "additional requests his agent had proposed throughout the football season. Understand this was coming off an emotional loss to Pitt. WVU's athletic department gave him a firm "NO" on talking about increasing his salary and any additional requests that weren't in the contract from August. RR went storming and crying to Michigan because of this. What's funny is RR is too dumb to realize his agent is the puppet master in the conflict and he looks like a complete idiot for signign a 4 million dollar buyout contract only to leave 5 months later- ALL on the advice of his agent.

What a goof.

Also, take into account RR had an affair blow up in his face last year with much of the news becoming very public. There is no doubt this had much to do with his desire to run from Morgantown especially with his wife embarrased in her hometown.

What's disturbing is RR and his agent are the one that's blasted WVU since leaving. Sure fans were mad and rightfully so, but that's natural of any fanbase. RR's agent released informationaftert WVU's hiring of Bill Stewart that WVU was a racist institution and stated he wanted this information released so it would hurt recruiting. This was based off an African American employed by the university, but not part of the athletic program telling OC cordinator Calvin Macgee ( who happens to be African American) before the Fiesta he would never be considered for the position because he was black. It had nothing to do with his skin color, but it had everything to do with MacGee being in the background in Ann Arbor when RR was named head coach at Michigan and already being announced Michigan's new Offensive Cordinator.

The "alleged" death threats:

This was likely in response to WVU suing RR for the 4 million dollars for the contract buyout which the idiot thought WVU would not pursue. Again, what a goof.

More interesting Where are the police reports of these death threats? Who made them? Why is his wife still residing in WV. Why are his kids still in WV public schools if the climate is so bad he fears for their lives that it brings a grown man in the SPORTS WORLD to crying like a little girl on ESPN. If it's that bad and he things WVU fans should move on, why doesn't he move his family to Michigan to protect them from all the "threats".

Again, what a fool.

Pay the 4 million dollars Rich and move on. The nation is getting tired of your victim act.

Below is RR's interview crying on ESPN about WVU.

Why was that story even on ESPN yesterday? I mean the national signing day is over, college basketball is in the middle of their season and you have the NBA and NHL going full force. Major League baseball is getting ready for spring training and the Pro Bowl is this weekend. I am not sure how a guy can sign a contract with a buyout clause and then voluntarily leave his team and not expect the buyout clause to kick in. If I feared for the safety of my children, then I would get them out of the area that they are getting threatened in. The more and more who hear about Rodriguez and his antics, the more and more you wonder if Michigan did their due diligence before they signed him!

More comedy to add to this is Rita ( rod's wife) and his children are evidently wearing Michigan shirts and other clothing to public sporting events, malls, and restaurants in Morgantown. Nothing RR says on camera matches what is reality. Again, if WV is such a hostile place for his family, why would you and your family be as bold as to wear Michigan gear in WV and keep the family in WV until the school year is over?

The reality is RR knows the 4 million dollar buyout court setting will be held in WV. He knows the judgement will be against him ( as it should be). He is hoping to gain national sympathy by portraying WV as a place out to get him and his family in hopes of having the suit moved out of state. That's obvious to everyone.

Moreover, he signed a 4 million dollar buyout with Michigan. How in the hell does one justify stating the buyout at WVU is unfair when he just signed the same thing at Michigan.

The man's lost it and his agent has made him a joke.

I give credit to the WVU administration for refusing to be held hostage to this egomaniac. They pretty much opened up the vault for him last season and agreed to his every demand. Then, less than a year later, he and his agent came back and demanded even more, including total control of the football program - pretty much at the expese of the rest of the athletic department. WVU said enough is enough. I think WVU alums and the fan base as well as the rest of the country are starting to see what a self obsessed guy Rodriguez really is. ANd for him to sit there and cry about how wronged he has been...well, that's just laugable. I say good riddence. If he wins a NC at Michigan, so be it. WVU was fine before he arrrived and we will be fine now that he's gone. As I look back objectively on his career at WVU, he really didn't have many "marquee" wins. There was the Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, a home win vs. No. 3 Va. Tech, a home win against Rutgers in the 2006 finale and that may be it.

that's funny

I know that a former editor of the WVU student newspaper is on staff at the Post

wonder if he had a hand in running those

Yawn. The rest of the world has moved on from worrying about "Rodreguiez". blink.gif Wonder if it's possible for West Virginians to do the same?

Wait! Maybe this is why:

Good point. The future is only brighter than it was when that post was made in 2006. WVU's upgraded from very good coaches to oustanding coaches in basketball and recieved 5.5 million dollars in contract buyouts in the process. What's not to love?

Thanks for the input!

Are you lost? Shouldn't you be posting on a topic where you are more comfortable like transgender message board of outsports? Not that there's anything wrong with "that".

Now, back to our regular scheduled program of making fun of RR:

T-Daddy,

I think you're right. The department head at the W Post seems to be having a field day at RR and his agent's expense.

This is the 4th cartoon I've seen him make alluding to the stupidity of RR and his camp.

Who is Rodreguiez???[font=Comic Sans Ms][color=#330099]

Sometimes, you have to break it down for people. So here goes. Everyone else can look away.

1. His name isn't "Rodreguiez". I suggest you try Googling it. "Google" is a search engine, and can be found by typing google.com in the address bar. A correct spelling will be suggested afterwards. That way, you won't have to hide the fact that you can't spell the man's name right by typing "RR" in all your posts, which I admit is much easier than trying to find the correct spelling. Sometimes, life is full of challenges.

2. The reason that you are finding four cartoons making fun of Rich Rodriguez is because you are finding A SYNDICATED COMIC STRIP which normally pursues a theme for several days. The particular comic strip in question is sports-themed.

3. I wouldn't have wasted my time and energy dealing with you in this manner had you not made the transgender comment, which only serves to display your crass lack of intelligence, unoriginality, middle-school locker-room-level attempt at humor, and apparent low regard for transgendered people (shown by putting the word "that" in quotes). Maybe you need some cultural diversity training. Or personal reflection on the fact that there are lots and lots of people in the world who behave differently than you do. (I guess it's too much to ask to expect a presumably gay man to understand the concept of differences.)

So in trying to keep the thread on track, I'll as an easy question, although it may require thought in answering:

Is there any particular reason why individuals from the state of West Virginia are obsessed with smearing their former coach to the extent that they feel making death threats to his family are appropriate? To my knowledge, no "former coach" situation has been this aggravated and drawn out, so if this is expected and common, please let me know. If not, then why him and why now?

To be fair here Frank, Rodriguez is not just an innocent bystander here. He did sign a contract with a $4 million dollar buyout clause and he does not want to honor it. I don't think anyone in sports deserves death threats, but he has handled this situation miserably.

Thanks for answering. I'm not judging his actions, just those who feel miffed that he left. Regardless of what an ass he may have been, I don't think that threatening his family with death is an appropriate response for sports fans. The rest is up to the courts.

Agreed! If anyone in my family received death threats, the police would have been called, and the family would have already been in Michigan, out of harm's way.

Sheriff Finds No Reported Threats In Rodriguez Case
WAJR Radio News
Morgantown

The Monongalia County Sheriff's Department says it found no report of threats against former Mountaineer Football Coach Rich Rodriguez or his family since his decision to leave his alma mater for the University of Michigan.

A report was faxed to the sheriff’s office last week by a third party claiming the reports did exist and the sheriff should look into it.

Monongalia County Sheriff Joe Bartolo said Thursday hiis department crosschecked with the county's 911 center and neither agency had received a call for assistance from Rodriguez or his family.

The fax indicated the claims were also being sent to the Morgantown Police Department and the West Virginia State Police.

Honey,

I realize you are posting blindy considering your ignorance on this specific issue. Keep posting and I'll keep laughing. Regarding the T-gender comment above, did it hit a little to close to home?

Must have.

So now we're gonna start calling people transgender as a form of insulting/belittling someone on a gay sports board? Really?

Yup. But we're also going to post all kinds of news bulletins anytime some poor, misguided heterosexual makes similar or less-insulting comments in the world of sports so we can make him out to be wrong.

Hard to point the finger at others when you can't even get your own house in order. Such a shame.

You're wrong on this. Imagine that. The comic strip has been having fun at RR (notice I used his initials) expense for almost a month which is far greater than the " several days" you suggested. Also, I just haven't posted all the cartoons. There are more than "4" as you also claim.
