Was just reading a small story in the latest issue of Out magazine, about the B 52's new album, their first in 16 years. Its called "Funplex", and from what the article said will be the same kind of high energy boogie dance sound those of us who love this band have come to expect. A couple of songs are called "Hot Corner", and "Deviant Ingrediant." My favorite line from the story was, " as long as there are dance clubs and gay bars, we will have a home."

Look for the group to tour according to the story. Can't wait!

I saw the B-52s in concert at Radio City Music Hall years ago. My friend got us free tickets-4th row center. It was probably the most fun concert I ever attended.

They played Roseland in Manhattan this past Halloween. The place was packed, and they were terrific. Non-stop high energy fun was had by all!

Yes. As is Keith Strickland. As was the late Ricky Wilson.

You know, I just don't want him to be!
As for the B-52's, I always had a thing for Keith Strickland.

I'd love to see them in concert. I hope they tour again soon.
The way the music industry is, I don't know how many albums they'll sell. I hope they got a good deal or are releasing it independently or something. I might put it on my "buy" list.
If you have Sirius satellite radio, on "First Wave" channel 22 Fred hosts "Party Out of Bounds" on Friday nights from 9 pm-midnight ET.

On my way to work today they played the
Funplex track. After the song was over two of the DJs (who happened to be straight) started talking about the B-52s. One of them said something to the effect that even though he's a "burly manly man" type of guy he loved the B-52s. The other DJ started teasing him about being a "burly manly man" simply meant that he was a "bear" in the gay community. It was hysterical the way they kidded each other throughout the whole thing. I couldn't help but think of this thread.

Forgive me for being dim, but is the new album out yet? If so, I think I'll pick it up this weekend in Wichita.

I will NEVER forget their concert at The Gorge in George, Wash. in 1998. While they were onstage belting out "Love Shack" overhead me and my ex saw the biggest meteor fireball in the sky directly above our heads I have EVER seen. Guess they excited the Gods as well....

I'm happy and upset. In NYC on Friday I was at the Virgin Megastore and they had both the new B-52's and the new Kylie Minogue CDs for ten bucks each, so I finally got "Funplex." Lots of fun. But I'm sad because I learned on the train to NY that the B-52's were in Philadelphia THAT VERY NIGHT for a concert. ARRRRRGH!!!
