Hey, Coach:

How is your training going? Logged many hours on the bike? How many more weeks to go? I hope to go for a ride or two this weekend. Bought a cherry pie for the 4th of July, and I'll have to work extra hard to get the bad stuff out of my system.

Cheers,

I am burned out............not sure if I want to do the IM..........thinking shorter tris would be better for my mental health

Will keep you updated on my decision.

Happy 4th of July

Best,

Drew

Hey Drew,
I definitely feel you on being burned out. You definitely inspire people here so keep it up. Training is definitely a different beast when you are doing it alone and around work and social life. You're not the only one bud. Keep it up. Best of luck.

I have been giving a great deal of thought lately to how I can inspire myself to continue pursuing training in the hopes of one day doing a triathlon. Of course, the challenge and overall fitness goals are great inspirations. But I wanted to take note in a public forum, the inspiration of two guys I've met through Outsports...Erstegeiger and Phillyrunner. Their advice and encouragement have often provided me with the fire to stoke my furnace. Thank you for your friendship, guys! You're a helluva coach, Erstegeiger, and I appreciate your inquiries per my training, Phillyrunner (Of course, I overlook your questionable taste in a certain NL baseball team, which will not be in first place in their division for long, if I have anything to do with it! biggrin.gif ). Thank you both!

I have others, who inspire me from family members, friends, colleagues, mentors, and strangers even, who take time to help others with their goals. Another inspiration comes from the posters on this Board, especially those in their twenties, and who are out and proud. Even though it is getting easier to come out of the closet these days, there's still a great deal of homophobia in our society and culture. I wasn't as brave as you, when I was in college. You inspire me and will inspire those who follow you!

Before I get too schmaltzy here, I should offer a piece of advice on getting up to achieve your goal each day...Put the alarm clock on the other side of your bedroom, so you have to get out of bed to turn it off! Then...hey...you're already up! laugh.gif

BBC nice to see you posting here and glad you are feeling the love availible here on outsports. Glad I have been a help.

Now....................it's time for you to just sign up and do a Tri.

There is a time to gather info and "test the water" and talk, then it's time to sign up.............that will make it happen......at this point you have some fitness and some experience but nothing will compare to getting out and doing it.

Next post for you I want to read here is..........I signed up for........XXXXXXXX race it is in2-3-4-5-6 weeks and I am nervous and excited. Help coach what do I do now?!

There is not mystery, just do it and you will find out........wow this is......great, fun, hard, awesome, scary, amazing, or something.........(pick many of them they might all fit for you on race day)

I have a very good friend who has a 1.5 year old, and is doing IMWis and is MOVING from Virginia to Arkansas THE NEXT DAY! By the way she also got her doctorate finished RIGHT BEFORE she gave birth. Time for you to know that you have work to do on the papers, writing, classes, jobs, dissertation,,,,,,,, but that you can easily sign up for a sprint and become a triathlete and YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!

Yours sternly and with much love and support.....Now......Go sign up for a RACE!

Omigod! If there was anything to get my ass in gear to find a race, it's the fact that J Lo is doing a triathlon... ohmy.gif

Gotta give her credit! I always liked her...though I wouldn't go straight for her! laugh.gif
