Unfortunately I don't have time to watch much SciFi. And the lack of overtly gay characters or plotlines is quite frankly depressing, when I have seen fragments.
But I have to admit I have enjoyed perving at
Ben Browder on StarGate SG-1 whenever I get the chance. Apparently his
bulge has become, shall we say, a galactic phenomenon, something I wasn't aware of until you inspired me to do a websearch.
And I got a bit of a thrill last night when I caught a snippet of
Rainbow Sun Franks doing a video of a really cute geeky guy sending a corny message on what looked like a "goodbye" episode of the show.
If so I won't miss the soap opera plotlines that try to "humanize" the characters.
But I remain optimistic.
After all, that's what SciFi is really all about, for me at least. One day we'll get our due just like other groups.

I can't wait for it to start back up again - since they made us wait for nearly a year to see new episodes! Anyway, I could care less if there are gay characters or storylines - as long as it's interesting and (at least) semi- well done. BSG has had some incredible episodes over the three seasons it has been on and, while I'm sorry this is the last one, I'm glad it's not being dragged out to the point where NO one cares anymore.

The first two episodes of the final season have been awesome. So many questions! Is it a Cylon civil war?
What exactly is Lee's new position? Is he being groomed to be the next president after (if) Roslin dies?
I'm glad they repeated the models of the Cylons. I knew Six was six, but I forgot the number of Boomer Cavil, Dorel, Leoben and the other one.
Next week's episode looks intriguing with Cally overhearing some sort of conversatioin followed by a scene with Cally, Tory, Baby Nicky and the airlock.
I love this show.

I've never been accused of being a huge sci-fi fan, but this show is simply the best drama on television.

Brief comments about tonight's episode.
Holy Frack! Tory, you..you...you...Cylon biotch.
Starbuck is twisted out of her mind. "Mothefracker!" favorite line of the evening.
Full Cylon civil war. Cool.
It looks like they are literally going out with a bang.
Can't wait until next week!

The thing about that last scene is that Tory totally had me going. I KNEW what she was going to do, but the way that she was behaving, from the body language to the tear in the eye kept me believing that she wasn't going to do it. Then BAM! And the look on her face when she pressed the button - Tory has gone over to the dark side.
Loved the way Anders just took Starbuck and "frakked" her. Set up some nice fantasies for me.
Speaking of nice fantasies, CycloneMatt and I agreed that Apollo looked even hotter. The reason - the suit. Woof!
It wouldn't surprise me if Gina and the Sharons had a resurrection ship of their own waiting just in case of a double-cross.
My favorite scene by far was the initial scene between Adama and Roslyn during her chemo treatment. I felt like his reading to her was his way of apologizing for the comments that he made in the last episode about her death being meaningless. The performances that Edward Olmos and Mary McDonnell give are truly Emmy worthy. Just wish the voters would realize it.
It's going to be very interesting to see how Tyrol reacts to Tory in light of what she did.

How about a hottie check for this show:
1) Jamie Bamber - Lee Adama

YUMMY!!!!
2) Karl Agathon (Helo) - Tahmoh Penikett

There are shirtless photos of him out there but my browser was having issues with them.
3) Samuel Anders - Michael Trucco

The mid season finale is tonight and it is going to be one mother fracker of an episode. I have a friend who saw it and said it is spectacular and you are going to be dying for the final 10 episodes in 2009i!!
I hope the show scores some Emma nominations because it really does deserve the recognition.

I got the first three seasons plus the Razor movie for Christmas (and preordered season 4 from Amazon) and am now just starting season 3. What a frakkin' great show! I wish I could catch up in time to start watching season 5 when it kicks off next week.

Start calling in sick now and you can squeeze 'em all in!
Can't wait for the new season to start, but am bummed that after all this time (since season 4, part 1), we won't get any more once these last episodes air.

Yeah but I think it's good that shows don't go on and on and run out of steam or "jump the shark". I loved Buffy and Angel more than life itself but I was okay (after a few months of heavy duty anti-depressants) when they went off the air.

Don't forget that
Sci fi has the 10 part webisodes "The Face of the Enemy" (each webisode is about 3 - 5 minutes long) that are really good. Gaeta is the star of the webisodes.
Trust me.
WATCH THE WEBISODES! The first revelation is a O.M.G. moment!
The story take place a few days after finding earth and there are some revelations that take you back to season 3 and will continue in the final episodes. The only annoying part is the same Underworld commercial that begins each episode. I am SO ready for the season to begin. I hope the series finale will be just as memorable as the Six Feet Under finale.
And I still say Ellen Tigh is the Final Cylon.

Please don't give it away, just yet. I didn't see it.
The show is great...plot, acting, and all. But what also keeps me watching is Jamie Bamber, Lee Adama!
Here are a few pix of Jamie:

Well I managed to watch the first 4 seasons between Christmas and yesterday afternoon. I am hooked. It's not quite on scale with Buffy for me but it's up there. So I settled in to watch the season 5 premiere last night On Demand. What a great episode! So many shocking things happened from Kara finding her own corpse and Viper on Earth, Duala's suicide and the reveal of Ellen as the final cylon. I gotta say I'm a bit disappointed about Ellen but I also am not sure that it isn't a fake out.
Part of the DVD set I got includes the Razor movie which I skipped. Did I miss anything relevant to the series? It doesn't seem like it but I was just wondering.

You need to watch Razor. There's a lot in there that you need to know, a lot of back story and you get a story of a young Bill Adama. Not to mention one of the best Galactica characters ever....Admiral Helena Cain!

Razor is worth the time to watch. We enjoyed it quite a bit. Plus Michele Forbes as Admiral Cain is always a good time.
Loved the first episode on Friday also. So many revelations, but I'm almost inclined to agree that the Ellen scenes are a fake-out. Unless they have more great secrets to reveal to us about her... then I'm in!

I was screaming "Noooooo!" at the end of the episode. After the snooze fest of last week, this episode kicked it into high gear. I love that we have the old Starbuck back. I'm still curious as to what Gaius said to Gaeta during the infamous cell scene that was referenced in this ep.
I also thought that the fact that Hoshi didn't know what Gaeta was going to do was very interesting.
I can't wait for next weeks episode. Only 7 shows left! Frak!

Check out the webisodes "The Face of the Enemy" which aired on scifi.com prior to the season beginning because one of the webisodes tells you what Baltar whispers to Gaeta. It also explains why Gaeta is so pissed off at the Cylons.

Wow. Wow. Wow.
This was the episode that we've been waiting for. I seriously need to go back and watch the episode again because it was just that packed with information. We
finally learn about the Cylons and their history. How the final five played a role in the events and the repercussions of their actions.
If you get a chance to read it, ew.com does a recap of each Battlestar episode and the write up on "No Exit" was a great synopsis of the show.
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20259126,00.htmlOne question that the reviewer noted that I also had thought about was concerning Galactica herself. With the extensive damage that the ship has, is the ship the dying leader referred to in the Pythian Prophecies?
Only five episodes to go. Will we see #7 Daniel, or have we seen his progeny?

Looks like that might have been Starbuck, perhaps?
The first hour of the three-hour finale was smart in that it went back to the beginning -- to tell the story of the end. Too bad all three hours couldn't have aired at the same time, but it's understandable for SciFi to want to spread it out over a couple weeks.
Can't wait for the final episode, yet I'm sorta dreading the end of this awesome show.

I agree. Loved the finale...more of the first half than the second half. But the second half is the one that will be the part that will cause all the discussion!
I will miss this show. But at least they are showing BSG - The Plan movie this fall. So that might give us more background on the characters from the Cylon perspective.

Mar 21 2009, 08:12 AM
Yeah I saw the promo for The Plan as well as Caprica with Eric Stolz and Esai Morales.
The one criticism I have about the finale is the scenes with Kara and Lee during the flashbacks of their first meeting. I guess I never really bought them as a couple. Kara was much better with Sam, IMO. They just don't play drunk very well.

<SPOILERS if you haven't seen the show yet>
The only quibbles I have in an otherwise great finale is the self-imposed exiles of Lee and his father... seems like they'd at least stay somewhat in reach of each other. And the contemporary robot shots in the final sequence were a little too much, but again... that's easy to ignore when the rest of it was so satisfying.

Yeah that ending bit with the robots was REALLY heavy handed and silly.

A Q&A session w/ actors Mary McDonnell and Edward James Olmos, plus producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick (and UN representatives) will be hosted by the LA Times Envelope screening series this week. They usually post some video on the Envelope. So for you BG fans look out for it.

Did anybody watch Caprica? It aired a couple of months ago and it's a prequel to Battlestar Galactica. It's going to be a regular series starting in early 2010. I'm gonna hve to get the DVD somehow as it's not On Demand or Hulu or the SyFy website for viewing.
