Speaking as an out-of-towner, as long as the Phillies are still playing I'd be unavailable. I wanted to make it up there the weekend before Veterans Day, which is a Tuesday this year. It would've been perfect because the Eagles are on MNF that week. But my request to take off work on that Monday was denied.

Is that Columbus Day weekend? If so it might work for me. I don't have plans but I'm cat-sitting that weekend so I might be able to do a day or overnight.

I think that is Columbus Day weekend... not that I get a day off or anything...
Maybe we can send out a message to all New York/New Jersey Outsportsters again?
Any suggestions on locations? I liked the Barrow St Ale House, except it's not really gay, and I like the Hangar, except there's only one game... Anything in the Chelsea area?
Just glad to have the NFL back again!!!

Sounds good to me. I just wish we had a gay bar that had satellite! wink You know, in case the games get a bit dull.

At least the Hangar and Tys will have a game on. Same can't be said for many other gay bars in NY.

Football in a Chelsea bar? Only if they are going to do some Fashion Makeover on the teams' uniforms.

I wasn't sure if anyone is going this Sunday, but I won't be able to make it. If you guys get together, have a great time and I'll catch you the next time. After this Sunday, I'm pretty much free, except for Nov. 2.

Hey, guys, this weekend wouldn't work for me, either. I'm taking my mom and nephew to Disneyworld (what we do for family.) The next three weekends are wide open, then I hit the road again. It'll be nice to see old friends again.....

What days are you bad on? And is it an evil kind of bad, or are you just naughty? wink
From the schedule for that week:
N.Y. Giants at Minnesota, 1:00 pm
N.Y. Jets at Philadelphia, 4:15 pm

Okay I'll put in for 10/26 to get off work. Plus rooting for the Vikes against the GMen in a New York bar will be very fun. I'll break out my Culpepper jersey for that one!

10/26 Sounds good. I can take a train down for the day. And I'll see if I can bring friends
Just where will this be, and what time will the festivities be starting?

I have made my hotel reservation for 4 nights starting Saturday 10/25, so I'll be there for the games on 10/26. (All I need to do now is request the time off work for the following couple of days, which shouldn't be a problem--and if it is, I'll quit! eek! )
BPT...the time will be 1 pm. As for which bar we'll be at...the apparent choices are the Barrow St Ale House, which has all the NFL games but isn't a gay place, or the Hangar or Tys, which are gay but don't have the Sunday ticket so they'll only have one game on, as CowboysHuskerFan mentioned. Since the two NY teams are playing the Vikings and Eagles, a lot of us are covered as to our rooting interests.
I'm okay with any of them, but if we go to Barrow St. can we perhaps reserve a table so we can sit down? I seem to recall them reserving tables the one time I was there.

How's this guys... meet at Barrow St. Ale House for the 1:00 game and then if we need to, go to Ty's for the 4:00 game.
Please reply if you are okay with this. I will send out a message to NY/NJ Outsportsters later this weekend.
Looking forward to it!!

Okay I'm good to go. I switched shifts with a coworker. I would suggest that we maybe head to Tys at halftime of the 1pm game. By 4 its already getting crowded and we won't get anywhere near a seat.

It'd be great to have you Phillyrunner as well as any other out-of-towners who may be in NYC this weekend. If we get a big turnout (and a table!!!), our best bet may be to stay at Barrow Street Ale House given that Tys is a bit smaller. The advantage to Tys is that it is a gay bar and the beers are cheaper.

i stopped by the Barrow Street Ale House yesterday on my way to work and found out they do not take reservations for Sunday football. So if you guys can get there at 12:30, the waitress told me you should have not rouble getting table. I'll be there between 1 & 1:30.

And, you can imagine my surprise when I logged on to CBS.Sportsline.com and saw this line in the summary of the Cowboys game...
"The Bucs slapped the Cowboys offense around as if they were Liza Minnelli doing a number on David Gest. " eek!

I really enjoyed the get together. Hope to do it again sometime. I can't believe the Liza reference in the article after we just about exhausted the Liza/David jokes yesterday. Maybe we should invite Pete Pricso to the next gathering.

You all forgot the most important thing--the Eagles beat the Jets, so that made the day doubly fun! wink
I have a nagging feeling that I didn't say goodbye to you on Sunday, George--if so I apologize. And to anyone else as well if I missed you.
I went back to my hotel room intending to go right back out...and fell asleep for awhile. wink Oh well...there was some talk about the weekend of Veterans' Day (which was my original choice for taking a long weekend)--it occurs to me that although I can't take off work on the Monday before (Nov. 10), the next day is the holiday itself. So I can always leave right after work and take Amtrak up there and watch the Monday night game--Eagles at Packers--and either stay up all night and go home early Tuesday AM, or get a hotel room for a night. Just a thought.

Here's a slightly revolting development: I got a memo on my desk showing some work assignments for next week. On it, I am listed as off on Monday--the day I was told my leave request was denied! I went to the manager and asked innocently, "Am I off on Monday?" She looked up their records and found my request, marked "approved." Unreal. So I could've stuck to my original plan after all! Of course, it worked out okay since we got together on the 26th, and now I have Monday off in case I want to go somewhere.
