LSU beat Ohio State in the safe confines of the Super Dome in New Orleans at the Sugar Bowl to secure a national championship from the SEC for the 2nd consecutive season. It was the SEC's 3rd national championship in the last 5 years ( LSU in 2003).

What's interesting is SEC schools always seem to have the advantage over it's competition in bowl games when lined up against Big 12 schools, Big 10 schools, and the occasional Big East school.

If LSU had to travel to play OSU in the frigid weather of Cleveland, would LSU have won the national championship? Rewind to last year, if Florida had to travel to SOldier Field to play OSU in the national championship, does Florid win the national championship?

While it makes perfect sense to keep bowl games in warm weather climates, bowl systems without question give SEC, Pac-10 ( USC, UCLA,) and ACC ( albeit it doesn't seem to matter) a huge advantage.

How would LSU stack up against Ohio State in 20 degree weather in late Nov?

How would Tennessee stack up against Penn State in 17 degree weather in Happy Valley in Nov

How would Auburn stack up against WVU in Morgantown in 15 degree windy weather at night on Dec 1st?

How would Georgia stack up against Wisconsin in 10 degree weather on the last day of college football?

I would say it wouldn't make any difference as far as tOSU is concerned. They played very well in cold and warm environments heading into the National Championship Game. I think if you're prone to choke it doesn't matter the temperature.

I think if teams from warmer environs don't prepare for playing in cold stadiums they probably won't play as well and stand a greater chance of losing.

Weather is no factor.

Any southern school can come to Buffalo and win. laugh.gif
