Where are the gay ice hockey teams in relation to my location Wilkes-Barre/Scranton PA ? How do I start a team let alone a league ? How many out & about players are there ? How do I start an association in my area ? We should have some sort of athletic association for gay sports.

Hey Jim - you've come to the right place. Your first step should be to contact the International Gay and Lesbian Ice Hockey Association.

They'll put you in touch with players and organizations from all over the place. Secondly I would recommend travelling and playing in one of the many gay tounaments that are around. Close to you....there's one in NY in June. If you have a few $$$ kicking around and would like to travel we're having our own tournament in Vancouver over the Easter weekend. Our website is here.

TP has given you a good start. I didn't realize TP played for the Cutting edges. I haven't seen them since a tournament in Seattle some years ago. Hmm. Maybe TP and i have met.


Anyway, I had heard rumors of a team in Pittsburg forming at one point, but I'm not sure what ever happened to it. But forming a league will require a lot of players, obviously.

Why did this thread get moved? God they are so strict about the rules on these boards. The thread is about gay Hockey Players - why can't it stay on the Hockey board?

It's more appropriate for this forum. It's not about NHL or even college players. It's about a guy trying to find teams/leagues in his area.

Tanks for responding guys and gals. Appreciate the encouragement and heads-up on this issue. The June NYC tournament sounds like fun. I've played at the Chelsea Piers while on vacation from North Carolina and luved it. Our goalie had played for the Winston-Salem Thunderbirds. Small world after all. The association of gay hockey players is way cool. Made my DAY guys !
