Surprised that no one had started a thread about this show, or are people just embarassed to admit that they see this show.
Step It Up and Dance

Dude, if I was willing to admit that I watched Farmer Wants A Wife, I'm certainly not embarrassed to say that I've been watching Step It Up And Dance. I wasn't impressed after the 1st episode. Two of the dancers soooooooo obviously didn't belong in the competition, which made their eliminations feel like a formality, and the episodes feel like a waste of time. But once they were eliminated, the show really picked up. The dancers are given choreography in a (very) different genre every week, and are given very little time to master it. The 1st piece of choreography serves to divide the contestants into a winning group and an elimination group. The two groups then have to learn a different piece of choreography, all in a ridiculously short timeframe. From the winning group, one dancer is selected who will get immunity for the next week's challenge. From the elimination group, obviously, one dancer is sent home. The ridiculously short timeframes are what really give this show its sense of drama. Even though they're all trained professional dancers, the pressure is insane.
My favorites are Tovah, the ballet dancer who was eliminated last week. I love ballet, and she is such a beautiful woman. She hated always hearing about her looks because this is after all a dance competition, but hopefully the exposure from the show opens up lots of opportunities for her and her knockout beauty. My hottie favorite is Nick. Nick's certainly nice-enough looking with a nice-enough bod, but it's his personality that really zings me - a lot of charm and charisma. My other hottie favorite is the dancers' mentor Jerry Mitchell. I love the lean good looks and the silver hair. He carries himself with a certain grace that you rarely see any more. It's nice to see an older gent (couldn't find his age on Wikipedia or imdb, but I'm guessing mid-40s) still lookin' so damn hot.
Good thing Jerry Mitchell represents gay men so positively because the openly gay contestants certainly do not. Even though I really felt for Oscar (his mother has cancer), I just couldn't take all of his eye-rolling whininess. He was so pissed that he was in the elimination group this week because the genre (Broadway) was his specialty. It got to the point where Jerry had to have a little sit-down with him to convince him to stay on. If you weren't good enough, pal, you weren't good enough - deal with it!! The other two openly gay dancers, James and Miguel, are just horrid, Miguel in particular. Miguel is an ugly example of the stereotypical bar-b*tch, just nastier than sh*t about all the other contestants. Although not as overtly nasty, James was his backstabby partner-in-crime. It was a big relief when James got eliminated. I'll jump off the couch and holler like the Red Sox just hit a walk-off against the Yankees when uberb*tch Miguel is voted off.

I like Nick a lot but Cody is sexy as well.
The show actually earned some respect from me last week by eliminating Tovah. When it was down to Tovah and Oscar, Tovah definitely was the worse dance in the assignment but I figured because it was a Bravo show and the producers got to give input in the decision, they would get rid of Oscar simply to make the sexes more even (4 boys and 3 girls). But instead they did the right thing and now it's 5 boys and 2 girls. WTG SIUAD!

I stumbled upon this one night and watched for a bit. One issue though....Elizabeth Berkeley? Really??? Her "dancing" in Showgirls qualifies her to host this show?

I thought the same thing, GTF, until I stumbled upon her bio (you can access it through the website link above). Surprisingly enough, she actually has a pretty respectable dance resume.
According to PerezHilton.com, Michael has done gay porn.
Okay, I'll try to find the link!

The photos of Michael are nice if one is into those things. In my estimation, I'd say 8 1/2 uncut. Now when can we start seeing some Cody pics? Those are the ones I want to see.

cody's physique really is striking--- and be that graceful on stage is such a delight to watch.
but i like Nick's style better, but he is not the judges favorite. On the last challenge, when both men were in the winning team--- I liked Nick better--- he seems more nible.
also, it was really unfair that Nick (who's much smaller than Cody) got paired with Janelle (sp?)- who is a lot bigger than Mochie, and she ended up partnering with Cody. so during the lifts, Nick struggled to catch Janelle. the guest choreographer sabotaged Nick.

Cody and Nick have developed quite a rivalry. It's interesting how the two straight guys became instant rivals whereas the two openly gay dancers, Miguel and James, became instant "sisters." Nick has felt in previous weeks that Cody tends to take charge, directing things so that he's able to shine. Last week Cody didn't have to because the guest choreographer did it for him. Have you noticed that Cody seems to have his "pose" down just right? During the critiques, he stands with his hands behind his back and with his substantial chest, shoulders and upper arms all semi-flexed. Yes, it was a big handicap for smaller Nick to partner with Janelle. Mochi is much smaller and lighter. Very little bodyfat on Janelle, but she's much more muscular (note she doesn't have the struggles with upper-body strength that Mochi often does) and probably weighs at least 20 if not 30 pounds more. The pairings really annoyed me.
Not only do I like Nick's style better (definitely more nimble), but his stage personality comes off as real whereas Cody's comes off as affected and a bit contrived. But since Cody is The Chosen One, Miguel becomes Nick's biggest competition to avoid elimination. Michael isn't even that great a hip-hop dancer, forget other genres. Not to fret, however, since he always has a backup career

. I just hope that Nick gets the opportunity in the next week or two to dazzle and for once to surpass TCO Cody.
Nick and Cody both have such hot bods. So why the hell was it always Oscar (not so much) traipsing around with his shirt off??

Michael was eliminated tonight - definitely the right decision. On the bright side, maybe that frees him up to pursue his other career
I don't know why they bothered with the preliminary dances. In past weeks, the preliminary dance divided the remaining contestants into a winning group and an elimination group. But after the three couples danced (supposed to portray newlyweds in a mattress store, buying their first bed together), they were told that all the dancers (except Cody, who had immunity this week) would be subject to elimination and that there would be no further immunities. So why bother? Just to fill time, I guess. Because only two women were left, two men had to play a gay couple, and co-ink-a-dink, the guest choreographer made Cody and Nick pair up. Unfortunately, the two straight boys chickened out and did an absurdist goof instead of any honest attempt to portray a gay couple. Very disappointing ... OK! I confess! I wanted to see the two straight boys get it on! Is that so wrong?!?
The trio of Cody, Nick, and Mochi did an outstanding job with their "audition call" dance considering they had very little time to rehearse due to Mochi's knee injury. They looked every bit as polished as Miguel, Michael, and Janelle. Miguel, Michael, and Janelle were all over the place. Gawd, Miguel was (yet again) just nastier than sh*t to Michael. So Michael's weak, deal with it! Instead, Miguel just defecated all over Michael in front of all the other dancers, saying how untrained he was as a dancer and how he couldn't work with someone so lacking in experience and technique. To repeat, Miguel did this in front of all the other dancers!! He is the ugliest stereotype of the nasty bar bitch. Sometimes I kind of resent Cody too, for his Chosen One status with the judges. But if that means Cody wins the $100,000 top prize instead of Miguel, then GOOOOOO CODY!!!
In the Bravo profiles, (okay, I'm getting obsessed) they reference Nick being straight. They don't make a point of saying Coday is straight so perhaps...
I haven't seen every episode so I haven't seen any reference to Cody's sexuality.
Nick has a great personality. He is definitely playing second fiddle to Cody though. I assume it is going to be Cody, Nick and Mochi as the final 3.
I knew it was Michael that would go when it come to him and Janelle. No way were the producers going to have only one girl in the top 5.
It is definitely Cody's to lose.

Miguel is such a rude, catty bitch. I can't stand him, and he almost ruins the show for me.

i found a clip of the mattress episode with Nick and Cody together
Nick and Cody Mattress
Almost went off the deep end this week when Cody (aka My Next Boyfriend) was in the Bottom Two. Judges keep saying to him technically he is the best but his personality doesn't come thru.
I looked him up on the web and he's had an interesting career. He's in a Brad Pitt movie "Benjamin Button" and he was signed to dance during a Streisand concert but somehow that didn't work out. He says he considered becoming a pro golfer.
I couldn't have him on the PGA tour. Too much travel. Unless of course, I was his caddy.

I caught an entire episode of this show for the first time last night. I don't know enough about dancing to judge the quality of the competitors. But that "Last Dance" they have to do when they are eliminated is one of the biggest douche chill moments I've ever experienced.
And I've met the choreogragher Jerry Mitchell. He used to date a guy I played volleyball with years ago. No idea if they are still together. (Gee I hope I didn't just out him! )

I'm glad Cody won. I thought his final performance was great, but it went by a little too quickly. I was really thinking they were going to give it to Miguel and I'm glad they didn't. He was so damn annoying. I was watching an episode of TMZ a few weeks ago when they showed Britney Spears walking out of a gym with Miguel. Ugh. I guess that's where the losing dancers of this show end up... in a Britney video.

Even though I really didn't want Miguel, the Nasty Bar Bitch, to win, I hated to see him get injured. Fortunately, the injury didn't play a factor in the final outcome. Cody would have won regardless.
Hate to be petty, but did we ever get to see Cody with his shirt off? We had a couple of scenes (finally!) with Nick shirtless, waaaay to many of Oscar almost nekkid, even one with Miguel (could have done without that one also), but none of Cody, who looks to have by far the nicest bod of the bunch. Did the producers/editors forget that this show is aired on a network gayer than Logo??
Been meanng to post earlier but Cody and I have been in bed since his win. I mean, all that sexual tension that'd been building all season....
I almost thought they were going to give it to Miguel for his "passion". His finale was good as was Moichi's. It seems out of the four, Nick came in last but it isn't clear. Moichi has a great body!
Cody is one reality star that I hope stays around.

Cody's going to be in the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. It comes out this December. He plays a dancer (of course) performing at the Paris Opera where Cate Blanchett's character performs. Should be interesting. And he's still appearing in Grease on Broadway at the moment.
