The Pac-10 was pretty open this year, but they always seem to be ready during post season.
Anyone know how good Florida's offense and pitching are? Or Alabama's?
TheOtherFSU
I know Florida has a pitcher named Stacey Nelson, whose record is an unbelievable 38-2. The reason I know that is that Fresno State has a freshman pitcher who has matched Nelson with 38 wins. The Bulldog pitcher is 38-5. I think there are something like 40 pitchers in the nation who have over 20 wins, but to have nearly 40 wins in a season is a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

Florida has got to be a great team. You don't go 27-1 in the SEC unless you're great. I'm not sure about Alabama. I know they've lost a couple of times in the last week though. It'll likely come down to the SEC vs. the Pac-10 for the national title. I'll be surprised if it's any other league, though Texas A&M is a strong darkhorse.

I looked up Florida's record and wow looks like they an amazing record right now. Their only two losses were by 1 run.

How ironic. The NCAA pairings came out yesterday and both Florida and Fresno State received #1 seeds in their regions and the two are on a collision course -- if they both win regionals -- to meet in the Super Regionals for the right to advance to the College World Series. With Florida being 34-0 at home this year, the prospects don't look good for the Bulldogs.

Here are the #1 seeds in each region (and the top 16 national seeds):

Left side of bracket
Florida Gators
Fresno State Bulldogs
LSU Tigers
Houston Cougars
Texas A&M Aggies
Stanford Cardinal
Tennessee Lady Vols
Michigan Wolverines

Right side of bracket
Alabama Crimson Tide
Long Beach State 49ers
Northwestern Wildcats
Arizona State Sun Devils
Arizona Wildcats
Oklahoma Sooners
Georgia Bulldogs
UCLA Bruins

SEC bounced back from 0-2 the first day to win back to back eliminating 2 pac10 teams.
I really feel for Angela Tincher though, after seeing her pitch this year, I can see why she's as good as advertised. But like Cat Osterman and Monica Abbott, her team's offense wasn't good enough to back them up.

I was so glad to see Arizona and especially Taryne Mowatt go down- she is such a pretty girl but you can see the ugly, snotty bitch in her from a mile away- there is a clip on YouTube showing her calling a girl that just hit a home run off her a "hoe"- it is debatable, but definitely plausible.

Also- the catcher hitting the other girl with the back of her glove after tagging her out was just as classless and lacked sportsmanship. During the intros, you can see her- Balko- with such a catty, bitchy intro that you know she is trying to be some Hiltonesque type diva.

My hopes are for a Florida/ASU final.

I saw Mowatt pitch in person during the Palm Springs Classic this past February. (That in-season tourney is the best in the country... 15 of the teams there ended up making the NCAA Tournament). I was shocked at what a bitch she came across as during the game. Arizona was playing UMass and the umpire was pretty consistent (but consistently bad) for both teams. Mowatt would repeatedly throw her arms up and scream, "YOU'RE KIDDING ME!," to the ump, or "WHAT THE ****?," or "WHERE DID THAT MISS?," after she would throw a pitch that was called a ball. She was doing it a lot as the game went into extra innings. I was surprised she wasn't ejected, and her lack of sportsmanship was sickening. I've seen many other pitchers (softball and baseball) get umpires with tiny (or moving) strike zones in a game, but I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher react as badly as she did that day. Plus, this was an early-season game... not one with anything on the line.

Taryne and a lot of the Arizona girls are very pretty, but I have always thought that they may be one of those bitchy, snotty girls. I can't say for sure though because I don't know them but they do come off that way.

So finals: ASU vs.Texas A&M

I'm glad Arizona State won a title for the Pac-10.

Yeah- plus they aren't the "legacy teams"- a breath of fresh air. The girls seemed so grounded in their success as well. Although I was hoping to see them play teh Gators- I am not complaining.

Arizona State's Pac-10 champion baseball team wasn't quite as fortunate as its softball team. They seemed like a lock to reach Omaha as the #3 national seed (and after spending a portion of the season as the nation's #1-ranked team), but were ousted last night -- on their home field in Tempe -- during the Super Regionals. ASU was 39-3 at home this season before dropping 2 straight to Fresno State. That's a huge shock.
NCAA Kid
I saw that too. They had a LOT of chances during game 2, but never capitalized. They've got to be disappointed. ASU was trying to become the first school to win the softball and baseball national championships.

This is all so ironic because I'm moving to Fresno, CA to work at FSU next month. GO BULLDOGS!
