I know they are doing it by the last 2 digits of your SSN number, and since I am in the middle bracket of numbers I guess I should recieve it no later than Friday according to the IRS website. But I thought they said they were 1 week ahead in sending this out?. I opted for direct deposit, which again, I hear we will lrecieve them first. But I have also heard rumors they are sending these out by different regions in the country...so wonder if anyone has recieved their yet???

I did a week or 2 weeks ago. My SS number has low numbers for the last 2 digits, It was put in my bank account directly - just like my tax refund. Thank you Pelosi & Bush.

Just curious...are these 'economic stimulus' cheques (OK, 'checks' in the US

) being sent to
all Americans, regardless of income level? Or does the amount vary depending on income?

I believe the full amount($600) will only be sent to those making $75,000 or less, and will be phased out incrementally in regards to how much over that amount you make. Also, if you make under $3,000 I don't think you qualify for a stimulus "cheque". Kids will earn you an extra $300 per child.
BTW, I got my check about 3 weeks ago. It'll end up paying for the crazy high gas prices.

No, not everyone gets/got one. If you have a six-figure income, you don't get anything. There's a graduated scale for incomes under that down to about $75,000/year. Below that I think you get the whole $600.

I didn't qualify for one because of my income but I hope that it serves those well who did receive it. I hope people spend it wisely or put it away for an emergency or at least put it back into this economy and not one that serves China. Pay a bill or just spend it on a nice pampering day since I'm sure people are stressed out over all the crap thats been going on.

Its fine. I didn't need it. Better to give it to those who did with the way things are going. $600 I'm sure helped people pay off something or a part of something at least.

People with at least $3,000 of income who didn't have to pay any tax (such as people whose only income is Social Security) are entitled to $300.
Since, as things have turned out, I had to write out a check instead of getting a refund, thus no direct deposit is involved, I have to wait until after f**king
July 11th to get my check.

I changed banks and thus the direct deposit should have bounced. Hopefully I'll get a check in the mail.

Single Individuals (AGI)
Qualify For A Rebate Check?
Less Than $3,000 (must be earned income) No
($3,000 - $75,000), but DID NOT pay taxes Yes - $300, plus extra for each child
($3,000 - $75,000), but DID pay taxes Yes - $600, plus extra for each child
(Over $75,000 - $87,000) Yes - But for income that exceeds $75,000, your rebate will be reduced by 5% (in
$1,000 increments), plus extra for each child
Over $87,000 income Maybe - You have been phased out, but can still get rebates for your child
For Each Child You Have Additional - $300 per child
Married Couples (AGI)
Qualify For A Rebate Check?
Less Than $3,000 (must be earned income) No
(3,000 - $150,000), but DID NOT pay taxes Yes - $600, plus extra for each child
($3,000 - $150,000), but DID pay taxes Yes - $1,200, plus extra for each child
(Over $150,000 - $174,000) Yes - But for income that exceeds $150,000, the rebate is reduced by 5% (in
$1,000 increments), plus extra for each child
Over $174,000 income Maybe - As a couple, you’ve both been phased out, but can still get rebates for your child
For Each Child You Have Additional - $300 per child
If you are a single individual who earned more than $87,000, or if you are a married couple that earned over $174,000 for the year, you are likely excluded from receiving a rebate check, unless you can otherwise claim any extra child rebates. Keep in mind that the child rebates can also be phased depending on how much your adjusted gross income exceeds the income threshold.

The amount you get is also based on the net tax liability on your 2007 tax return. If that amount is between $3-600, and you otherwise qualify, and are not subject to the high income phaseout; you get that amount, not $600.

If you work hard and follow the "American Dream" you get f****d.
Someone told me that the slot parlors in Pennsylvania are makiing out like bandits with people gambling away their stimulus checks. I hope they are enjoying my hard earned taxes.
Stupid gimmick to keep the masses in line.

I also won't be getting one.
You'd think a federal government beurocrate with a six digit income would be first on the list. But noooo!
My only hope is all the rumors comming to me lately from China about dozens of my illegitimate kids actually gets me some money.
But not sure if working in a Nike factor will make a difference or not.

I filed electronically and paid with a credit card. That's the key --
I had to pay. If I had gotten a refund it would've been paid via direct deposit, and thus I would've gotten my stimulus payment back in May. But since I had to pay them, they don't have my bank information.

or no?
Joe in Philly
Jun 27 2008, 04:47 PM
They may have the info from previous years, but they can't use it automatically because people change accounts and it would cause problems if they just sent it to an account that was closed. So they had to just use the current returns.

Did anyone notice that gas prices peaked at an all time high in May, June and July. The exact same time all the stimulus checks were being mailed.
But that's what we get for having a Texas oilman in the White House. Because that's where most of the money from those checks went, to the oil and gas companies, complements from the president.
But I was smart. I didn't give it to them. I gave my money the native americans via their indian casinos.
