agreed, swingin, Mark does have a terrific body. But as I argued earlier in this thread, I think Mark is sexier more for his personality than his good looks and nice bod. As to why the judges are so hard on them, I think it's always in a constructive way. In another reality show, "Step It Up And Dance," the contestants said that while some of the criticism was tough to take (the judges on that show make Nigel & Company look like a bunch of Pollyannas), it was great to hear why the judges didn't like their performances. Apparently the life of a professional dancer is that you go on audition on audition, hear "no" more times than any human being ever should, but never learn why. After a while, you start getting paranoid ("am I too short?", "too fat?", "is it because I'm black/Asian/effeminate?", "is it that big fat zit that popped up this morning?" ... ) They all appreciated the opportunity to hear, perhaps for the only time in their career, exactly why their performance or audition fell short.
As much as I liked Comfort, it was definitely her time to go. In light of Twitch's very good and Will's AMAZING solos, there was no choice but to eliminate Thayne. But at least Thayne has a huge fan in Mia Michaels! That definitely does not suck. After seeing Will's solo and the Alvin Ailey dancers, I thought, "Will is the only one of these kids who's as good as the Ailey guys." And whaddya know? Nigel says the same thing! Well, something tells me half of America had the exact same thought. It was interesting to see how genuinely relieved Will was to hear he was safe. Dude, come on! You could have walked out on stage, lifted your leg up like a dog, and farted for 30 seconds, and the judges still would have kept you!! But the astonishing quality of his solo proves both Will's humility and his love of dance.
It'll be very interesting to see who the dancers are partnered with next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Katee and Will.

The conspiracy theory in me is thinking they will pair Jessica with Mark because they don't want Mark to stick around he is probably receiving the most votes of the males. I think Nigel wants a Katee/Will finale and that is who they will pair up next week.
My predicted pairings:
Jessica/Mark
Katee/Will
Chelsie/Gev
Courtney/Twitch
Kherington/Joshua
Alvin Ailey dancers = Amazing. And I thought the same thing...Will could be in this company.
Will is the Danny of the competition this year. But Twitch is also excellent at what he does. Mark may not be technically the best dancer, but he brings charisma to the dances and to the majority of America, charisma and selling a routine helps wins votes. Will is a beautiful dancer, but I still don't really see any personality, other than nice guy, out of him. I think this will be the toughest/strongest Top 5 guys of all the seasons.

I think SYTYCD's biggest weakness is the fact they eliminate a guy and girl each week rather than the weakest two, regardless of sex. I'm sure they don't want a Final Five of all guys though.
Last night was the first time I was truly amazed by Will. His solo was incredible. He'd always been sort of lurking in the background for me, behind my faves, but wow. Awhile back, I was thinking that last year's group of dancers was better than this season's, but I have completely changed my mind. I truly can't predict who the final two will be. Courtney and Katee are my favorite girls but I really like all the guys. This show is going to lose some bigtime talent next week no matter which guy goes home.

I don't know if any of you dance fans caught SYTYCD - Australia. Their season ended a couple of months ago and it came down to two guys - Jack & Rhys. Both were amazing, but I think they got it right by crowning Jack champion.
Here is a clip of their Top 12 group dance to Dionne Farris' "Blackbird". Very Fosse. Jack is front & center in the dance.
SYTYCD - Australia Top 12And the Top 4 where the guys clearly outdance the girls.
SYTYCD - Australia Top 4And in the finale, the Top 20 group dance was really fun. The judges even ger to dance in the dance! I would love for them to incorporate Kat or some of the judges into the Top 20 dance in the finale.

So Jessica's out and Comfort's back in.
Jessica has some sort of "undisclosed injury," and has been booted. When pressed for answers, Nigel Lythgoe refused to elaborate on the injury so I think we're open to wondering what really happened (pregnancy? rehab? they realized she just wasn't good?, etc.).

I read that she has broken ribs and has been dancing injured for a few weeks. Maybe she injured her ribs during that horrible disco routine where she slammed on the ground during one of the lifts?

Although he had an off night, I power voted for Mark last night. I want to see him paired with Katee. My predictions for tonight is Twitch and Comfort will be leaving. Twitch is the least versatile of the remaining males. And Comfort because she's the weakest girl.
So tonight we get a Bollywood group number, a girls dance by Mia and a boys dance by a mystery choreographer. and Lady GaGa (but not for Gaby) performs! Just Dance!
Please,, please, please don't let Marky 'Mark go home.

Well you got your wish, but at the expense of my favorite, Gev. Gev did not deserve to leave by far

I think Twitch is going to get to the Final 4 based on fan votes but he deserved Bottom 2 tonight.
Shame that Kherrington leaves on her 1st off night and Comfort survives on her first one decent performance.
I think Joshua is overrated as well and he reminds me of the guy from season 2 that I couldn't stand who could do amazing solos but always let his partners down and had such a sour attitude.
Will and Katee were AMAZING together and are the clear best 2 for me.
For the girls Chelsea and Courtney are second with Comfort a clear not deserving of even the Top 10 or 20 distance from them.
For the guys I think Mark is the best remaining guy in technique besides Will. Although Mark is amazing in the group numbers.
Pairings I would like to see- 1) Will and Courtney
2) Mark and Katee
3) Twitch and Chelsea
4) Joshua and Comfort
I am hoping the Bottom couple here gets the ax- Josh has a fake attitude and Comfort doesn't belong here. She is a hip-hop dancer only and has nothing close at all to the standards of the show outside of that genre.
My rant- she got a second dance in the ballroom waltz dance which she should have showed improvement and then a dance in her own style.... lucky for her... poor Kherrington got a Country 2-step (which was stupid to begin with) and contemporary with a new choreographer- luck of the draw not on her side. But I was less sorry to see her go with such a sour attitude.

I'm not happy at all that Gev was eliminated. I didn't want Mark to leave either, but I probably would've preferred Mark leave than Gev if I had the choice. Damn. The top 5 guys are all strong. Seeing Comfort still in the competition while Gev is gone is hard to take though.
I wasn't surprised Kherington was in the bottom 2, but I'm shocked that Comfort wasn't voted out. For the guys, I agree with what MDG alluded to earlier... it seems clear that the show is pushing for a Will-Katee final.

Whew! Marky Mark is safe, but it came with a price. I did not want Gev to leave tonight. I was shocked that Comfort survived. I thought it was a no brainer that she was gone. Wow.
I wanted Twitch to leave tonight. So, while I was glad Mark was safe, I was indeed sad about Gev. Did anyone notice how shocked Chelsie was when Mark was announced bottom two and the huge hug that she gave him when he was safe?
I would love for a Mark/Katee pairing next week. I hope it's not a Mark/Comfort pairing. A Mark/Courtney pairing would also be interesting.
I can see a Josh/Comfort pairing. I can't see them pairing Comfort with precious Will.
I would like to see:
Mark/Katee
Will/Comfort or Chelsie
Josh/Chelsie or Comfort
Twitch/Courtney
Wasn't Lady GaGa supposed to perform tonight?

Mark had the weakest night amongst the boys. That two-step routine went so wrong in so many ways, although granted a lot of that was Kherington's fault. And then that jazz routine (or whatever it was) just didn't connect. Gotta agree with Mary, it seems Mark was a bit lost out there without a character to play. As weak as Twitch was in that waltz, he did kick some major league a$$ in that hip-hop routine. I guess it's better to have one awful and one great routine than two lackluster ones.
I'm not all that surprised that Kherington's gone because I always got a sense that Comfort had a following (for her personality) that was just itching for a reason to pick up the phone and vote for her. That fantastic hip-hop routine with Twitch gave them what they were looking for. I think both Twitch and Comfort owe a big thank you to Dave Scott for choreographing something that gave them a chance to knock one out of the park.
Gev's and Kherington's goodbye solos were simply outstanding. I was so tickled to see Gev breaking to Michael Buble (can you believe it!), managing somehow some way to totally make it work. I felt Kherington put more heart into her goodbye solo than she did any of her recent performances. But didn't anyone notice the ghastly faux pas Kherington made on Wednesday night? She danced the two-step in (EEK!) dude boots. <oh the horror>

I actually broke my own rules and watched it this week. For me, I think Mark should have left. Gev, while being a hip hop street dancer (according to the judges) was amazing in the other dances that he has done, and shows incredible talent.
Plus the fact that he is drop dead sexier than Mark. Although the sinful thoughts about twitch are a close second.

I bet that Comfort "randomly" picks Mark tonight and "randomly pick some Crappy boring dance. It seems very suspect that you can almost predict who certain dancers will be paired with and what order they will dance.
I am going to be a fantard and vote for Mark tonight no matter what because there is no way it is a random draw if Comfort pulls his name. and if they get some dance of death ballroom (quickstep or slow waltz or foxtrot) or crump and they go first..
I still love the show and all the remaining dancers (except Comfort) deserves to be in the Top 8. The only real jaw dropping shocker would be if Comfort does not go home tomorrow. The guys are so strong that even if my Marky Mark gets eliminated, I still enjoy watching the other guys dance.

MDG's predictions were mostly right. Sure enough, Mark ends up with Comfort and there's no way in hell it was a random draw. I've always felt every season that this show was rigged and I continue to feel that way. All signs have pointed to a Will-Katee final for weeks now and the producers are sure doing their best to ensure it. Twitch is the only wild card I see as potentially edging out Will to reach the final.

I voted like crazy for Mark last night. I was really annoyed with Nigel and Mary last night. Mary especially because she obviously doesn't care for Mark and Comfort. Even when praising Their hip hop she just praised it in a subdued manner yet she does her wild Mary bsanshee praise for a mediocre Lyrical hip hop and a disco that was filled with missed connections and fall out on turns.
I thought Katee was strong in both her dances but she had the weakest solo.
Chelsie shined in the Argentine Tango and Disco, but I didn't care for her solo.
Speaking of the Tango, Mary also said Chelsie had more chemistry in the dance than her former partner. What? Mark and Chelsie probably had the best chemistry aside from Joshua and Katee and Gev and Courtney.
Tyce's Broadway and Napoleon & Tabitha's lyrical hip hop were overpraised.
In Mia's number, I liked Katee but there were too many stand and pose moments for Twitch. Love the use of "Mercy". That song rocks.
My fave dances of the night were probably Will and Courtney's Samba, Mark & Comfort's Hip Hop, Twitch & Katee's Contemp, and Josh and Chelsie's Argentine Tango.
I love this show because of the dancing and the use of music. New to me last night was Cha'nelle's "I Fell In Love With The DJ".
And may I add that "oh Toni you"re not so fine, you're not so fine you don't blow my mind, Hey Toni". Miss Basil needs to stop saying "street" And why the f**k was Mary sitting as far as possible from Toni? Mary was practically sitting on Nigel's lap while Toni was practically sitting by herself in time out!
And I am just in Love With Cat. She is simply divine.
I hope all of Hawai'i power votes for Mark and in an unexpected surprise, Twitch goes home. For the girls, I expect Comfort to leave, but the girl has 9 lives so you never know.

It's weird (ok, maybe not weird, just rigged) that the judges will point out every little boo-boo in some routines while ignoring glaring mistakes in others. Totally right, MDG, Josh almost did a face-plant out of his pirouette at the beginning of the disco number and badly missed at least one hand connection. There was that terribly awkward moment when Chelsie was standing there with her hand stretched back, like a relay runner, and Josh basically dropped the baton when he couldn't make the connection. Yet the judges go on and on with their praise like none of this ever happened. What? Were they having a Paula Abdul moment? I think not!
Toni was pretty much useless up there except for her comments about Twitch & Katee's Broadway number. IIRC, her comments as a guest judge on Bravo's "Step It Up And Dance" were terrific. How much was Nigel squirming in his chair when she basically admitted she totally spaced out during the first two numbers of the night? Maybe she was on something.
Mia's a genius at choreographing around a dancer's limitations, and she did exactly that for Twitch last night. She incorporated a lot of hip-hop funk into a contemporary routine so that Twitch was either standing around making faces or doing hip-hoppy stuff, thereby limiting how much contemporary he had to dance. But can't criticize this routine too much because my eyes were glued to Katee, who was brilliant. Then again, that was Mia's intention all along.
Tabitha & Napoleon's slow hip-hop number was so overpraised it was almost embarrassing. I went back and watched it again after hearing all the judges' gushing, and nope, the routine was just not all that. Also, Napoleon is pinging my gaydar so loud I might need earplugs. Speaking of earplugs, I'm getting so tired of Mary's screaming. It's gotten so damn old already.
My faves of the night were Tyce's Broadway number, the tango, and the disco number (despite the boo-boos). Even though the boys are definitely stronger this year than the girls, Katee and Chelsie really sold those numbers for me. And it must be my inner disco queen just dying to bust out, but I just love Doriana's disco numbers. Hmm, what ever did I do with my old Qiana disco shirts??
Absolutely, Comfort should go home. She's shown little versatility outside of her specialty, and some of her hip-hop routines weren't even all that extraordinary. But you're right, she's got more lives than a cat, so who knows. Whether Twitch or Mark goes home, I don't know if it much matters because they'll both be on the tour but neither has a chance of winning the big enchilada. Both have limitations, so it wouldn't be a huge injustice one way or the other. But if any girl besides Comfort goes home, that'll bother me.

I think by pure demographics, Comfort will stay another week and Chelsie will be the one going home tonight. However, Comfort should have been gone for 3 G-D weeks now and is perhaps even worse than any of the Idolettes staying way beyond their stay, especially with the significant level of talent this season.
Among the guys, they just praised and praised Twitch last night way beyond necessary last night. Katee made him look very good. Josh was also praised beyond his performance level- he is my least favorite because he seems to be all about himself and seems to overestimate his own abilities (His ass is in another time zone- I know some like that, but that much beef just means you have to freeze some for later and I only like my meat fresh)....
Will was pretty terrific and his solo was amazing.
Joshua and Comfort have no capacity to choreograph for themselves.
Twitch has a very limited range and I am so sick of his 4-Real 4-Real 4-Real that everyone is doing now. I mean- get over it people- it looks f**ing stupid!
If I had a choice, I would get rid of 4 dancers tonight- Comfort, Chelsis, Joshua and Twitch.
I think Mark is a better dancer than the partners he has been given....and is the second technical male dancer. Will is by far the best of the entire group.
Katee and Courtney both rock.

I think the powers that be want Twitch as the winner, hence the whole gracing his average performances last night with glowing praise. Getting rid of Will sooner will make their vision a lot clearer.

Holy Moley Batman! Wow. That was a total shock. I am happy that my one and a half hour of voting played a part in Mark staying. I should have thrown some votes Will's way. I think Will's biggest problem was, while a superior dancer, he just didn't connect with the fans enough to have them vote for him. Twitch, Joshua and Mark all have a strong fan base and powered them to the Top 3. I really wish Twitch had gone home tonight.
My hope would be a final four of the original partners of Katee & Joshua and Chelsie & Mark. Next week will be tough.
I'm thinking the pairings will be
Courtney & Mark (never partnered with each other).
Chelsie & Twitch (never partnered with each other)
Katee & Joshua by default since he's partnered with Courtney & Chelsie the past two weeks and this will probably guarantee them Top 4.
If we only could have switched Twitch with Will, it would have been an amazing Top 6.

While Will was an astonishing dancer, both technically (the best this show has ever seen) and artistically, he didn't seem to have much of a personality beyond (as someone put it earlier) "generic nice guy." It's a huge loss for the show that someone as gifted as Will is gone, but the voters made their decision. Twitch owes a huge debt of gratitude to the choreographers, who came up with terrific routines which didn't expose his weaknesses, to the judges, who overpraised his performances, and to Katee, who totally sold both routines. I'd be more upset about losing Will, but I had a really bad feeling at the start of the results show. Comfort, on the other hand, waaaaaay overstayed her welcome.
The Balanchine pas de deux, "That's All," was absolutely effing AMAZING. The technical difficulty (for the woman) was off the charts, yet she made it look effortless. Remember how Katee and Will made that one flub in the Desmond Richardson-choreographed routine, where she passes under Will's arm and clunked her head? The ballerina was set down en pointe and made a pirouette under her partner's arm with her head dipping below knee level. It reminded me that these kids, while all super-talented, are still very much amateurs (except Will). I watched and rewatched that pas de deux so many times already I've lost count.
Will totally deserved that $250,000. But he was able to train at Debbie Allen's academy on full scholarship, and all the choreographers, whether on the show or just lucky enough to see Will perform on it, are salivating at the chance to work with him. I'm very curious to see where he eventually ends up in the dance world.

I hope the dancers dance to songs which I can add to my SYTYCD 4 playlist. I currently have 35 songs from this season. Season 2 has the high with 38 songs.

I hope the gives America a good mouthful about getting rid of Will way too early, although she is professional enough not to do so.
I wish they could do a spin-off series with something like "So You Think You're a Triple Threat"- which is a higher level than the FAME show that was on T.V. Where you can see them dissect a group of amazing dancers, amazing singers and amazing actors and force them to learn all areas- seeing who can become the biggest triple threat of them all... The kids really brought it tonight. I thought most of the dances were really really good. My top couple for the couple were Katee & Joshua followed closely by Courtney & Mark. Chelsie & Twitch were the weakest couple tonight. I did not care for that Hip Hop Conductor number to the marching band version of "Control".
I voted for Mark, but also threw some votes Courtney's way because I think she danced her ass off tonight and she needs the votes. Twitch is the weakest guy and should be the one leaving tomorrow. For the girls, Katee is a lock for the Final Four, but I think it's a neck & neck race between Chelsie & Courtney. They are both so good that I can't decide who I like better. I think Courtney gives the strongest solos, Katee is best in partnering and Chelsie shines in all her dances. It's going to be a tough elimination tomorrow night because all 6 dancers are really good. I love watching Twitch's solos. He is probably my favorite soloist of the males.
And how freakin' awesome is Cat? Putting on the glasses, and then sticking the grills in her mouth? So gross, but yet so funny & cool. I've said it before and I'll say it again, she is one of the best host of any reality show and she was robbed of an Emmy nomination.

If I had to predict who's going home, I'd say Mark and Chelsie. I think Twitch's fans probably realized they needed to vote heavily after he was in the bottom 2 last week. And I think Chelsie is slightly more likely than Courtney to be going home as well.

I am shocked that Mark left and not Twitch. I was torn between Chelsie & Courtney, but I cannot believe Mark received less votes than Twitch. I spoke to many people at work who watch the show and not one person voted for Twitch. My mom in Hawaii voted two hours for Mark. All online polls indicated Mark & Joshua in the top 4. So I really was shocked that Twitch received more votes than Mark.
I do think Twitch was the strongest soloist. I loved watching his solos. His partnering skills, however, was the weakest of all top 5 guys. And I enjoyed Courtney's solos and song choices among the women.
In a total coincidence, the two dancers in the spotlight opening dance were....Chelsie & Mark. Turns out, it was pretty much their farewell dance.
I think the top two will be Joshua and Katee with Joshua winning. Josh & Katee have never hit bottom so one of those two really deserve the win. I still can't get over Twitch is in the Top 4. It really should have been Will & Joshua. But that's what happens when you leave it in the hands of America* ...I suppose.

Can't say I'm shocked, but I am surprised that Twitch stayed and Mark is gone. It felt like the judges were going to accentuate the positive, basically leaving it in America's hands to decide the four finalists. True, there were some critiques, but soft, and always in the context of lots of praise. I thought Twitch had the weakest night of all six dancers. Chelsie was truly on fire in their mambo, which pretty much sold the routine, while Twitch struggled. But instead of the "I expect more from you at this stage of the competition" critique, the judges softballed him. Sorry, but I just hated Closet Case & Beard's Napoleon and Tabitha's dueling maestros routine. Sometimes they come up with terrific numbers, and sometimes they choreograph pretentious wannabe BS, and I thought the maestros thing was utter crap. Granted, it's not Twitch's fault that he had to dance crap choreography, but it's a bit surprising that people bothered to vote for him based on that routine and the weak mambo.
On the other hand, Mark (who I thought deserved to go last week) had a terrific night. He was lucky to get some brilliant choreography with that waltz, which he danced well. And then he was just spot-on perfect in that funky bizarre jazz routine by Sonia. Very cute to see Sonia so wowed by their performance that she was popping out of her cleats.
Don't get me wrong, I do like Twitch. For a popper/hip-hopper, he's a very versatile dancer. And his personality has a way of really selling routines. But I would have a problem if he won the whole thing, or even made it into the final two. I think Joshua and Katee deserve the top two spots, with Katee as my pick to win the whole thing. Joshua's been great, so good in fact that I have difficulty believing he has had no formal training, but Katee in her own quiet way has made every single one of her routines shine.

Well, the Top 4 is done. I think the Top 2 comes down to Joshua or Twitch. Twitch may miraculously steal the victory. Joshua looked totally exhausted by the final dance. Katee's only hope is for Twitch & Joshua to split the vote. No way in hell does Courtney win.
Nigel's final speech about the boys irked me to no end. He said "untrained dancer" at least 4 times in the show tonight. I do not think the final two guys (well Twitch) deserved to be there. It should have been Will and if not Will, then Mark against Joshua in the finals. However, I am convinced that the agenda was to get a hip hop dancer into the finals and to the winner's circle. They set it up last season by having it come down to Twitch & Hok as the "final dancer" to make the Top 20.
If Katee wins, I think she will have had the most limited range of dances in the history of the show. It seemed like all she did was contemp/lyrical and Broadway.
Overall, this was an up & down season for me. I didn't love as many dances this season as I have in the past two season, but I did love the music used this season.
Tomorrow night's grand finale should be a great show. Dancers from the past will dance, Mary & Nigel will dance (not together) and I get to see Mark & Chelsie & Will again.
I threw some votes to Courtney just for the hell of it and then I also threw some votes Joshua's way. Although I am not power voting like I have the past few weeks.

And another season is over. I am totally satisfied with the winner. This wasn't my favorite season, yet, now that it is over, I am going to miss the show. Now I have to wait one year for Season 5. One year without my Catastic Catalicious Cat Deeley. At least I have a ton of new music and memories of the dances that somehow turns a horrible song into something visual (cue "No Air" and "Bleeding Love").
It was also nice to see dancers from the past. I am surprised that they never mentioned Sabra and she never even appeared on the show this season. Curious.
Edit to add: And I LOVED the Chris Angel/Cirque/Wade Robson Dead Bunny dance. That was amazing, mesmerizing and kept me glued to the tv set. Although, I kept waiting for something/someone to pop out of that mini coffin (hey, it is Chris Angel). Maybe something does happen in the real show in Vegassss.
Finally, I really hope that Cat receives an Emmy nomination because she is truly one of the best reality tv

Overall I thought it was a good but not great season. The best part of the finale to me was seeing the final 5 guys in the piece choreographed by Nigel. It was very entertaining. I thought the Chris Angel/Cirque piece was pretty boring.
I'm surprised Katee finished 3rd... and I agree with MDG about Sabra. It was stunning that she was a no-show and basically went unmentioned all season. It's kinda like she never even existed so I don't know what happened there, but something was definitely up. I'm wondering if she gave up dance completely or something.
My favorite this season was Gev. Too bad he was eliminated so early.

I got a bit nervous when it came down to Twitch and Joshua. Don't get me wrong, Twitch is great, but no way did he deserve to win. I'm so happy for Joshua because he's a very deserving winner. I'm just puzzled as to why they kept repeating that he was an "untrained" dancer while showing pictures of him in class at a ballet bar.
I loved that Katee was given a surprise $50K. Her reaction was priceless. I loved seeing the numbers with Mary and Nigel, proving they can still hoof it. Dmitri makes a simply fabulous ballroom partner. And I loved seeing the "alums" and finding out what they were up to. I was kinda hoping that last year's Neil would say that he was dancing in a strip club, but no such luck. Didn't notice Sabra's absence until you mentioned it, but you're right, it's odd. I can't imagine that Sabra gave up dance, though, because she loved it too much. Not quite as conspicuous as Sabra's absence, but I was wondering where Danny was and what he's up to. No mention of it, but I take it Benji still "hasn't found the right girl yet."
I agree with MDG, that I liked this season a lot and appreciated the sky-high talent level, but can't say I loved it like seasons past. Also love Cat Deeley. She's so real and warm and natural. If I were a SYTYCD contestant who just got eliminated, Cat would be a very comforting presence, like having a friend up there with me during that awful moment. If I were an American Idol contestant who just got voted off, I'd wanna tell Miss Ryan to get the f*ck away from me.

I *heart* Gev. Missed him and was glad to see him again with a little haircut. Sigh.
