Well the title of this thread is The Most Shocking News Ever. Now comes the LEAST shocking news ever. Clay has, offically, come out! Or at least he will when the next issue of People magazine hits the stands:

Now that's an OMFG moment! But hey, good for him.

Not only is Clay Aiken coming out as gay, but apparently Lindsay Lohan has "confirmed" that she is a lesbian. Like we didn't already know.

Well, good for the both of them. Certainly Lohan's life seems to have far less drama now that she's with Sam the DJ, so I am beginning to believe their relationship is not just a PR stunt (think Anne "I'll f*ck anyone who can advance my career" Heche). As for Clay, it is about time, but I really hope that everyone, from Griffin to Perez Hilton to all of us, gives him some breathing room now. The only funny/sad/interesting thing about Aiken as been his all-but-announced sexuality (and I am still trying to figure out how he got a former Green Beret as a boyfriend a while back). Maybe now he can simply focus on a career, which seems to be more about Broadway than pop stardom. Good for him to see the importance of being honest to one's kid.

What I love about this news, though, is how quickly, in just about a decade, we have gone from the season-long coming out of Ellen Degeneres (with all the resulting fanfare) to the relatively low-key announcements of TR Knight, Neil Patrick Harris, Aiken and apparently Lohan. Hell, throw our favorite bisexual Cynthia Nixon in there as well. Maybe it's time for Sean Hayes to realize his re-closeting isn't getting him anywhere.
