¡Felicitaciones España!

Muy bien jugado.

The Germans had lead in their shoes. Except for Schweinsteiger (the whole game) and Klose (here and there), they hardly show up. Though kudos to Fring for some dependable defense.

Fernando Torres? What an amazing goal! What strides! He must have been covering several yards with each one on those last two or three before flicking it over Lehman (will it be his last Euro Championship).

Elsewhere the entire Spanish team excercised brilliant ball control except for a few unnecessary attempts to dribble in their own side when they should have been booting it to the rafters over the opposite goal.

A well deserved victory by the Spanish! They played with such determination, heart and passion. Their skill was jaw droppingly amazing, and they controlled every aspect of that game. In contrast, Germany took a page out of Portugal's Quarter-Final loss... they played uninspired soccer with no heart or desire to want to win that game.

Jens Lehmann proved once again why he's an overrated goalkeeper while Iker Casillas had a spectacular tournament.

What can you say about Fernando Torres... easily the greatest striker in the world. He showed up to play in the biggest stage of them all and was spectacular.

Big props to Sergio Ramos (ubber hot too by the way)... following the game, if you noticed he had a t-shirt on for the whole celebration... it was his way of honouring Antonio Puerta - his good friend who collapsed in August of last year during a game with Sevilla... he died of a pre-exisiting heart condition. I'm actually surprised no media has picked up on that awesome tribute just yet...

I was up at a cottage and saw the final minute of the game and the medal ceremony. Later I saw the replay of the game up to the Fernando Torres goal. What an effort! He wanted that ball more than the German defender. And Lehmann's feeble block was totally ineffective.

What a thrill for the Spanish team, and Spain, and with the King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia in attendance at the game and on the podium to congratulate them.
