Some upcoming gay days with MLB teams:

Monday June 23, 2008: Night Out with the Nationals IV at the brand new Nationals Ballpark. Nationals vs. Angels. The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington D.C. to sing the national anthem.

Friday July 11, 2008: Out at the Park - San Diego Pride Night. Padres vs. Braves. San Diego GALA Choruses present the National Anthem at PETCO Park.

Friday July 25, 2008: LGBT Night Out - San Francisco Giants. This popular 'singles night' includes a seat in the LGBT Night section as well as a pre-game party and free drink of your choice! Giants vs. Diamondbacks.

Sunday July 27, 2008: Out at the Ballgame. Join the boys at Wrigley Field. Cubs vs. Marlins.

Tuesday August 19, 2008: 6th Annual Gay Community Night at the Phillies. Organized by Outsports' beloved scottie... and it's dollar hot dog night! Phillies vs. Nationals. The Phillies gay day has now got an official t-shirt. Only $15!

Night Out with the Nationals is this Monday. Washington Blade article: More than 2,000 fans expected for gay baseball event

Gay sports fans will storm the District’s new ballpark for the fourth annual Night Out at the Nationals on Monday.

The event, which is sanctioned and co-sponsored by the team, attracted more than 2,400 gay fans last year, according to Chartese Burnett, vice president of communications for the team. The first year, 2005, brought 1,600 to RFK stadium. More than 1,700 have bought tickets so far for this year’s event. Sponsors include Bud Lite and Nellie’s Sports Bar.

As it happened I watched the Nats game last night. They had to wait through a 1:10 rain delay but the game itself went pretty quickly, though it didn't end with the result Nats fans would've hoped for.

The Mets did once anyway. I suspect it depends largely upon community activists taking an interest in organizing it. Probably organizations have community outreach people that vary in their interest/willingness to 'outreach' to gay people, too.

The minor league Atlantic City Surf is having a gay night...oops, too late. It was tonight (or last night, to be precise, since it's after midnight now). From the Phila. Gay News:

Be Visible, a new LGBT group in Atlantic City, is inviting the community to the first “Gay Day” at the Atlantic City Surf game, 7:05 p.m. July 15 at Bernie Robbins Stadium, 545 N. Albany Ave. in Atlantic City.

Tom Gouker, head of Be Visible, said the Surf, the city’s professional baseball club team, won’t publicize the event, but the group is determined to bring out as many LGBT fans as possible.

Be Visible has 200 tickets up for sale at $7 each. Tickets can be purchased at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory on the Atlantic City Boardwalk; Lucy the Elephant, 9200 Atlantic Ave. in Margate; the Westside Bar, 501 N. Arkansas Ave. in Atlantic City; or by calling the Surf at (609) 344-7873.
