Charlie Black one of John McCains principal advisors sure put a big foot in his mouth over comments he said yesterday about the potential effects on the Presidential race if a terrorist attack happened though didn't he?
Once again the GOP is going to try to rely on the politics of
fear.

I hope there will be many more similar foot-pas from the McBush team. It can only help the Democrats.

Putting aside whether the comment was as inappropriate as the Obama camp is stating - what would the impact of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil be to the Presidential race?
I'm not sure that Black wasn't correct in his prediction (despite McCain's statement to the contrary).

I think the comment was one of the most vile of the campaign. It's disgusting to say that a terrorist attack before the election would help McCain get elected. The way it was said was almost as though it was wishful thinking. That's awful, and I think the comment is more than just a "foot in mouth" thing that should be quickly dismissed.
Our country is -- to a certain extent -- a dumb one. I can see that mentality among the flyover states... "Well, we've now been hit twice by terrorists under a Republican president, so let's go vote Republican again so we can stay safe."

AGREED...I too think it may be wishful thinking on Blacks part, and a poll I saw this afternoon kind of bears that out to a degree. The only area where McBush leads Obama is in the area of terrorism, for the moment. Every other area, the war, the economy, gas prices, the mortgage meltdown, and health care all favor Obama...

In 2004, the GOP claimed the terrorists wanted the Democrats to succeed. Can we now say in 2008 that the GOP is hoping for the terrorists to succeed?

Love his joke that we should all have six bedroom homes like his neighbor.
