Full Version: Tell Toyota To Bring Back Speedos

I've been looking for a way to bring Speedos back to swimming and here’s a comment that I sent to Toyota who is one of the sponsors of Swimming U.S.A.:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
I used to watch swimming on TV, however I don’t anymore because of those ugly “technical suits” worn by the athletes.

Here’s a link to a photo of Michael Phelps posing in the LZR which is one of the worst looking swim suits yet devised:

(This photo has been altered to "improve" the original appearance.)

These “high tech” suits are an absolute eyesore and if Toyota wants to continue sponsoring Swimming U.S.A., and continue to attract viewers, it should recommend that the swimmers go back to wearing briefs –IE- “Speedos” as shown in the links below.

--------------------------------END--------------------------------------------

If you want to bring back Speedos, contact the companies (such as Toyota) who sponsor the TV and other media coverage of swimming events and tell them you want Better Eye Candy ASAP!!! biggrin.gif

Is there a High-Res version of the Men's Journal with Phelps on the
cover?

Speedos are more than just a time-honored tradition that needs to be maintained, they're like an endangered species. We must work hard to preserve them in their natural environments. Don't just save the Speedos, but save the collegiate swimming and water polo programs where they flourish.

Unfortunately fuller body suits have been a trend in other sports for some time. Track and field stars are coming wearing them more than ever. The fluid dynamic advantage gained in lowered resistance is even more questionable for land sports than for water.

A better solution than constantly advancing technology is a return to something closer to the original Olympic model (which I just suggested in the wrestling thread), making sports once again a competition of individual effort rather than competing technology, whether interior (in the for of drugs) or exterior.

As for technology and its affect on sports wear, my opinion is that athletic apparel is getting "Uglier by the day".

On the subject of "Fuller" body suits, here's a comment on Speedo's LZR (and other brands): rolleyes.gif

On the issue of improving the Eye Candy in televised athletic events, I'm going to use the approach of an erotic art instructor. OK class, here are a few examples of what your things should look like.
