Full Version: Hater Phelps barred from Canada

Professional hater Fred Phelps had planned a trip to our neighbor to the North to picket a satirical play in Toronto titled "The Fred Phelps Project" and while he was at it, to picket the funeral of Tim McLean, the unfortunate man beheaded, mutilated and cannibalized on a Greyhound bus. With perfect Phelpsian logic, this sorry excuse claimed that the random murder of a straight male by a straight deranged individual proved that God was punishing Canada for being too pro-gay.

I read the article in the Globe and Mail. Best quote? Cabinet minister said "Even free speech has it's limits".

The beheading incident has so many bizarre twists and turns. Apparently PETA had submitted an ad to a newspaper in Manitoba comparing the killing (a man stood up on a bus and stabbed to death the young man sitting next to him, ultimately beheaded him, brandished the head to the police and other passengers who had fled the bus, cut up parts of the body and placed some--ears, nose, mouth--in his pockets, and was seen to consume some of the flesh; in his first appearance in court he spoke little, but said "Please kill me") to the killing of animals in factory farms. The ad was rejected as being in poor taste.

QUOTE
A group spokesperson is unapologetic. "Like human victims, animals in slaughterhouses experience terror when they are attacked by a knife-wielding assailant," Lindsay Rajt explains in a statement. "We are challenging everyone who is rightly horrified by this crime to look into their hearts and consider leaving violence off their dinner plates."

Damn! I was hoping Canada would let him in because we sure as hell wouldn't let him back into the US. I wouldn't wish Phelps on Canada, but I would hope they'd send him farther north and put him on an ice floe with a hungry polar bear or two.

The horrific murder of Tim McLean has shocked people from around the world. His funeral service is being held today in Winnipeg, thankfully without the outrageous indignity of Phelps' presence. Can't the US authorities do anything to stop this lunatic from carrying on his hatemongering? He has been getting away with it far too long.

Our Public Safety minister Stockwell Day has a long history of opposing gay rights but I know he would never agree with Phelps' extreme views on homosexuality. So he did the right thing by barring Phelps from Canada. Not that McLean's murder had anything to do with homosexuality in the first place...

Not long ago, I saw a bizarre TV interview with Shirley Roper Phelps and a gay activist whose name I've forgotten. Somehow, they consider each other 'friends'. I just shook my head in disbelief.

US authorities can't do anything about Phelps because the US constitution guarantees free speech. What should happen is that the US press should stop reporting on his shenanigans, but stories about him sell ink and air time. Again the press is covered by free speech.

Phelps and his family, who are the Westboro Baptist Church's congregation in its entirety, are congenital nut jobs, and everyone in North America knows it.
