But could those cards be any more bland? Oh well, I guess it's a start.

If I'm going to send a generic card, they look good. If it's for friends of mine, I want humour.

So where's the Gay Bridezilla card.

Trust me, 2 friends of mine are getting married Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and the younger one (by 15 years), is very quickly becoming the spouse from hell. (was it rude of me to tell him that since you're getting a gift, asking for a cheque as well is just DAMN rude).

Well, love them or hate them, the cards are having an effect. Maybe not the effect that Hallmark intended, but the fundies have their proverbial underdrawers in a knot over them:

QUOTE
Hallmark Greeting Cards has announced it will begin selling same-sex wedding cards, even though same-sex marriage is legal in only two states. The purpose, they say, is to satisfy consumer demand. It appears that their purpose is also to push same-sex marriage. Last year Hallmark began offering "coming out" cards - as in "coming out of the closet" -- a euphemism for announcing homosexuality.

We've all given or received Hallmark Cards – remember their slogan – "when you care enough to send the very best." But promoting same-sex marriage for profit is not the very best for families or our nation.

Hallmark is a private company obviously driven by greed. Let them know you do not appreciate Hallmark promoting a lifestyle which is illegal in 48 states. American Greeting Cards, Hallmark's competitor, does not offer same-sex marriage cards.

This is from the afa web site: AFA's freakout

"Illegal in 48 states" - um, actually boys and girls, while 48 states might not legally recognize same-sex relationships, that doesn't mean they're illegal. I mean, adultery is grounds for divorce in most states, but I don't see Cindy McCain being perp-walked off to prison.
