I thought maybe this was the best way to talk about our favorite teams this season rather than individual threads for each team.

Another star from an AFC power is lost for the season....Shawn Merriman is done.
Joe in Philly
Everyone told him he shouldn't try to play with his injury, that he was risking his career. He's lucky he didn't make it worse by playing that one game. I guess his ineffectiveness on Sunday finally convinced him.

The Chargers really got hosed yesterday with that lousy call. Cutler clearly fumbled and SD shuld have gotten a W. However, what a gutsy call by Shanahan to go for 2 and the win at the end of regulation.

Despite winning yesterday, the Raiders will reportedly fire Lane Kiffin today.

Well that was two weeks ago. But the axe fell today so Kiffin is done and the raiders are still a joke.

The Chargers lost to Miami!?! laugh.gif laugh.gif

I don't know why the Chargers continually hand the ball to LT when he's clearly being contained. They did it last year when Turner was just as capable and this year with Sproles. If the franchise guy isn't 100%, let's get the ball to others. Geez.

My only consolation today is that the Colts were my suicide team this week. I had already resigned to being out. Thanks Peyton...er Sage.

Maddog
The Chargers had a much better showing this week. It's amazing that one guy (given a future HOFer) is out and the Pats are completely done for the season.

I wonder though...Is it Tom being out or is it because Belichick has such a microscope on him that he can't get away with cheating anymore?

Joe in Philly
Yes and maybe. Plus the defense is clearly not the same. I think key components are getting too old.
Maddog
I miss Michael Turner.

Nice to see that the refs blew the call on the last play of the game, thus stirring one of the great controversies in gambling sports history. Boatloads of money should have changed hands on the supposed touchdown return but didn't because the refs overturned it on review.

Later the officials said that the touchdown should have stood. Sure, go and tell that to the guy who bet lotsa dough on Pittsburgh getting four points.
Maddog
That's what you get for betting against my Chargers, Blue! biggrin.gif

Honestly, I had already thrown my TV out the window when Polamalu scored so I didn't get a chance to see the controversy. Officiating does seem especially bad this season.

I doubt anyone who isn't a Chargers/Chiefs fan watched the Chargers/Chiefs game yesterday but what a finish! I'm thinking the Chargers make the playoffs. Okay, praying more than thinking...
sportinlife
My only problem with the Chargers-Chiefs game is that nothing was thrown to Jeff Webb. I mean if you're gonna lose all but two of your regular season games all year at least give some good close-ups of something worth looking at. Now that Trent Green is gone the eye-candy reduction is about 25% for me.

Hey don't laugh. These are hard economic times. Sports is 90% entertainment. So if you can't win at least "entertain" me. mad.gif

As I've seen over in a Carolina board:

If there's any justice in this world: Denver will have to beat San Diego (in Week 17) to make the playoffs.
Maddog
I LOVE the Buffalo Bills! Thanks Blue! Seeya all in the playoffs!
Boltergeist
Remember when Denver could put anyone in the back field and they'd have a 1000 yard season? Now they just get season ending injuries
