You're right, Joe. The Eagles' defense was great against the Giants. New York played sloppily. They were resting on their laurels!

Well, the Eagles keep their playoff dreams alive for another week. Whether they can run the table over the next 3 games is a big question mark knowing that one week's good performance does not always translate to the next. As mentioned before, the total number of runs and the success derived from them totally shocked me. Normally if the first couple of runs don't yield much yardage Andy abandons the runl altogether. But perhaps the weather conditions finally convinced him that the ground game could work given a chance. I was disappionted in David Akers kicking line drive field goal attempts when under 35 yards. I know it was windy, but better to miss short than have them blocked as was the case today.

Big game this Sunday against the Cowboys for the Giants. As a Giants fan there are a few things that concern me at this point in the season. First, in four of the last five games, the Giants defense has either one or zero sacks. Although sack stats can be misleading, in this case they support the fact that the Giant pash rush has been poor over the past month.
Second, the defense could not stop Brian Westbrook in the last game against the Eagles. Going into the game you have to know there is only one player on the Eagles that can beat you - Brian Westbrook. Regardless of whether is was a coaching problem or execution problem, it's scary that the Giants defense could not handle a completely one-dimensional offense.
Finally, Brandon Jacobs seems to be wearing down, or rather wearing out. Latest report is that both knees are now bothering him. The offense simply isn't as effective when he's not running hard and often. Hopefully he'll be able to finish the season without any further damage. And the bye week in the first round of the playoffs should allow him to recover at least a little.

Well, NJ Jock, you were right to be concerned about the Giants last night. They were abysmal!
Eli was sacked 8 times!!
The offense was a disaster!
Here they could have dealt a mortal blow to Dallas and gotten the bye in the first round. Did they? Hell, no!
Even if that moron Plax were playing, they still would have lost!
And I applaud Dallas. After the TO, Romo, and Witten saga this week, the Cowboys got their act together.

Whose absence is hurting the Giants' offense more, Burress or Jacobs? I was surprised they lost to the Eagles but I figured they'd bounce back against Dallas. The fact that they didn't and now have to beat Carolina next week to finish first overall really makes me wonder about them.
And Tampa Bay could've easily given the Eagles the Atlanta loss they needed. They block an Atlanta punt and had the ball deep in Atlanta territory in the last couple of minutes, and had to settle for a field goal to tie the game instead of a touchdown to win it, and Atlanta wins in OT. So the Eagles, if they win out, still need a loss or tie by Atlanta (schedule: at Minnesota, home to St. Louis). Or, thanks to the Bucs' failure yesterday, they can beat out Tampa Bay if the Bucs lose one more, but the Bucs have home games against San Diego and Oakland.

Sorry!
That wasn't much of a game. The Eagles should've had a lot more than 30 points. They kept stalling in the red zone, either settling for field goals or throwing interceptions. The INT at the end of the first half was another disgraceful play call by Andy Reid or Marty Mornhinweg, whoever called it. I can understand throwing it even though they needed a FOOT to score, since they had only 9 seconds and no timeouts. But the play before they wasted many seconds and had to use a timeout as a result instead of having time to spike the ball once. Terrible. This kind of effort is good enough against pathetic Cleveland, and might be enough to beat Washington on Sunday but won't cut it against Dallas.

I say Jacobs. But some are saying that Burress could have given Manning more options. That boob should have followed advice proffered by Michael Strahan. Strahan said that if you feel threatened and you make that much money, hire a bodyguard.

Nice win for the Cowboys on Sunday night. But they're still pretenders. In other words, they'll be lucky to make the playoffs - and even if they do, they'll be one and done. Giants played as poorly as they could offensively and they were still just one defensive stop and a drive from stealing the game at the end.
I just can't see the Cowboys beating both Baltimore and Philly in the final two weeks. And one more loss could very well eliminate them from the playoffs.

What a fabulous end to Texas Stadium last night! Dallas huffed and puffed and managed to score and get within two points, then one play and -- BOOM! A 77-yard TD run by Willis McGahee. Dallas huffed and puffed again and managed to get within 2 points, and -- RERUN!

Le'Ron McClain runs 82 yards for a score on the first play after the kickoff.
QUOTE
“It wasn’t a homecoming game. It was more like a mock funeral,” McGahee said. “We spoiled their day. It was probably the best concert ever in Irving, Texas.”
---
“We wanted to be party crashers,” linebacker Terrell Suggs said. “I hope they enjoyed their little ceremony. I guess we were kind of like the dynamite.”
---
Only about half the crowd of 63,800 remained for the ceremony that featured introductions of about 100 former players, including 12 members of the Ring of Honor.
I guess this says it best.

So all week it's been "the Eagles need the Vikings to beat Atlanta because that's the only decent team playing either Atlanta or Tampa Bay the next two weeks."
Oops. San Diego 41, Tampa Bay 24. The door is now open for the Eagles: win and they're in. Unbelievable.

The Eagles got that gift from San Diego and promptly flushed it down the toilet. Truly pathetic. In a 3-0 game at the half, with winds swirling and McNabb throwing ground balls to shortstop and dropped passes, naturally Andy Reid calls pass after pass after pass. An owner who really cared about winning instead of money would surely have a new coach and GM next year. The Eagles don't have such an owner.

Barring a miracle, the party is over on the Eagles and perhaps McNabb. I've never seen a QB with such a foot fetish. He must have thrown at least six balls ankle height or lower to his recievers and the good throws he did make were dropped. 3 points is unacceptable against an average defense.

McNabb did throw some groundies but that didn't excuse the dropped passes that happened, particularly those two late in the game that were RIGHT on target to Jackson (I believe)....one that would've put them in field goal range...the other that would've been a touchdown. This one was bad play calling, McNabb and the receiving corps. But all in all...for a Redskins team that has lost 5 of their last 6, and for an Eagles team that was 7-1 in their last 8 trips to Redskin territory...that was an awful loss. With so much at stake, the defense did its job, but the offense was nonexistent. That last play was oh so close, but they shouldn't have been in that position to begin with. And once again, lacked a crucial timeout when they needed it.

OK - so are gay football fans centred in the East? Anybody else notice the stats on these NFL boardsl. This one the NFC East 120 replies and almost 5500 views. Next up the AFC East with about 40 replies and over 1700 views. None of the other divisions are anywhere close.
I guess the NFL really does need to get a team into the Los Angeles market!

I wouldn't say that gay football fans are mostly in the East based on the views and replies. It's just that fans of these particular teams are posting more. When there are more posts, a thread gets viewed. When no one's posting to a thread it disappears and doesn't get views.

It may be because gay football fans in certain areas are more discerning when it comes to good teams, i.e. New York, Dallas, Miami, Boston, and, even Washington and Buffalo. There is always an exception, though!

The people here in Minnesota are funny....they needed our 4th string cornerback to fall down to get one score...and then I think the Giants borrowed a few high school players on the last drive to propell the vikings into the playoffs, and suddenly the commentary around town is that the vikings are ready for the super bowl....
in any event.....i've never realized who i hated more...the cowboys or the eagles...i mean both teams to a giants fans are despicable....
but today...the answer was i hate dallas more...from the start...once all the early games were over, I was hoping that dallas wouldn't make it......so that made it a pretty successful week 17...

The confluence of minor miracles obviously made my day yesterday. How far this Eagles team goes is anyone's guess. As for the Cowboys, as long as Mr. Jones is at the helm, I can't see him choosing a strong minded coach over Wade Phillips. He tried that in Bill Parcells and it didn't work, Jones is too much of a control freak. Jerry Jones needs to relinquish some of his power to a GM that knows what pieces to put together rather than just buying a cast of "marquee" names.
