I thought maybe this was the best way to talk about our favorite teams this season rather than individual threads for each team.

Some kookiness out of Detroit involving new RB Rudi Johnson and the guy he replaced, Tatum Bell. Gotta read it to believe it!

Wow! I didn't think the Lions could possibly suck any more than they did last year! I was wrong!!

The Lions defense was bad last year, and obviously haven't gotten better.

The officiating wasn't just awful in Denver yestareday. On the Vikings next-to-last drive, there were two non-calls where their receivers were clearly interfered with. Now the Vikes didn themselves in by having to settle for FGs and not being able to get into the end zone but those swalloed whisltes may have cost them the game. The Tavaris Jackson experiment is clearly not working out.
Meanwhile, the Packers are looking pretty smart by going with Aaron Rogers. He has looked like an elite QB so far.

So the Tavaris Jackson experiment in Minnesota lasted only two weeks...Gus Frerotte will start this week. Clearly Frerrotte isn't the answer but Jackson has been pretty dreadful so what the hell.

Finally Matt Millen appears to be out as the Lions GM. I have no idea how he lasted this long and it isn't going to make any difference for this season but at least they finally wised up.

I read that "Fire Childress" chants were heard at the Metrodome yesterday. At least the Vikings were the beneficiary of a
dimwitted Detroit quarterback.

Lions name Jim Scwartz, former Titans defensive coordinator as their new head coach. I believe this was a very good choice.

Slightly off topic...but did anyone see the
article by Mitch Albom about Detroit in last week's Sports Ill?
Damn...one of the best articles ever written in that mag. It was all about Detroit and its struggles intertwined with its sports teams, but really anyone who lives in a "rust belt" city could see a lot of their hometown in Mitch's writing. Almost gave me chills reading it.
Lions...only one way to go...up!

Mitch is a fine journalist, author and overall decent,stand-up kind of guy. Thanks for sharing the article.

I like the way the Lion's coaching staff is shaping up! Gunther Cunningham, defensive coordinator and
Scott Linehan,offensive coordiantor.
