Well... I really hate these close, defensive struggle games. You would have thought we were back in the 80's again. LOL Too much yelling at the TV and pacing the floor.
A win is a win... but I worry this will cost us in the polls. No style points, and so many pollsters are easily impressed with Big 12 teams that apparently have forgotten there is something called defense. Hopefully they will realize that winning in the Horseshoe is not easy (I think the only teams recently to do so were Illinois last year and Texas a couple of years ago. And the Buckeyes played lights out on defense.
I was disappointed in how the offense played. Not to take anything away from OSU, but we should have been able to move the ball better. Part of it was the play calling... after opening the playbook earlier in the season, we went conservative again. We have the horses, let them play. Hasn't Paterno learned anything from all of these road Big 10 losses in recent years where we played not to lose, rather than playing to win? I thought after the Wisconsin game we had thrown that monkey off our back, but apparently it was back today.
A week off, and it's been a rough stretch of games, so I think we need it. We also need to get refocused so we can go out and win the rest of our games. I think if we had to play next week, we might not have much left in our tank. 3 of our last 4 were on the road, including tough venues like the Horseshoe and Camp Randall. And early rumor says our QB got a concussion, which is why he was pulled in the 4th quarter. So, we need to see what's going on with that. Hopefully it's not serious and he'll be ready to go in a couple of weeks.
On a positive note...

I like this team. Not only do they have the players, but they seem to have the intangibles. They stay calm, they stay focused, they are confident, and they find a way to win. After a lot of easy wins, they have faced some adversity the past few games and won. Every test, on and off the field, they've passed so far this season. I just hope the leadership doesn't allow them to get too confident, and overlook any of the remaining games. We made it through what should be the toughest part of the schedule, but there's no room for error. We have not reached our ultimate goal yet this year.
