Any new shows catching your fancy? I am more looking forward to returning shows. Not much in the way of new shows look all that promising to me. I'll give True Blood (premiering tonight on HBO) a shot despite the fairly negative reviews. Also eager to see Fringe, the latest from JJ Abrams. The man cretaed Lost and Alias so I'll watch anything he does. And midseason, we'll finally get a new Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) show, Dollhouse.
Of the returning shows, Friday Night Lights, The Office, 30 Rock, The Amazing Race Lost and 24, though I'll have to wait until January for the latter two. By the end of last season, I was only half watching 24 as it became more and more of a mess but with a new season comes a new day and it's had more good seasons thatn bad so I'm willing to give it another shot.

Who watched "Kath & Kim" last night? It was semi-painful. I can see this show being pulled in the next few weeks. Molly Shannon is funny and tries her best, but the show is poorly written and Selma Blair is completely miscast as her daughter. Blair comes off really mean and nasty, and not at all likeable. Damn. I was hoping for a good show, and there were a couple of really funny moments but overall it was weak.

Oh I disagree with you, respectfully of course. I thought Kath and Kim was great. I love Molly Shannon too, and I didn't realize it was Selma Blair at first. Granted, it's that stupid humor that I really like, which isn't everyone's cup of tea.
I think this show will be a success. I do think it's going to need some time to develop the characters. Of course they were a little cartoonie, but I think most shows start out this way.
I did watch Arrested Development, which was gone way too soon, but other than that, this is the first comedy that i've watched without a laugh track. I still think this is something viewers are getting used to with the new comidies.

I have heard some good things about "Fringe".

I'm with you FSU...Kath & Kim was dreadful. And I love "stupid" comedy. This was just stupid.
Fringe is okay and I'm still watching but it looks like another JJ Abrams show with a deep, involved mythology and mystery. I'm not sure I'm up for another show like that. It might work alot better if they were stand alone epsiodes instead of all being part of an all-encompassing story arc.

I watched the first episode of "Gary Unmarried." It was OK, but I haven't watched it since then. I also caught the first airing of "Worst Week," which I liked. I taped, but still haven't watched, the next two.
I've seen the first two episodes of "The Ex-List." The show is pretty fair, but it sure does have a lot of nice-looking guys on it!
My favorite so far is "Life on Mars." I'll definitely watch that one again.

Things have improved at Kath & Kim over the last few weeks. There was some reshuffling among the writers and the show has definitely gotten better since the first two episodes. The Kath & Phil parts are really funny now, and they carry the show. Molly Shannon might even snag an Emmy nom for this role. NBC has picked it up for a full season, something I never thought would happen after seeing the pilot. I don't think the ratings are great but they're not awful, and I think the show is picking up a fan base.
I noticed ABC made some pretty high-profile cancellations yesterday: Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone are being pushed aside with no orders for new episodes from the network.

All 3 shows were cut down in part by the writers' strike and ABC's decision to hold off new episodes until this fall once the writers' strike ended. Shows that did come back with new episodes last spring when the strike ended seem to be doing better.

I just finished watching the first episode of the new season of "Burn Notice" on hulu. Last season Michael went out with a bang. And...I've got to say...this show is getting better. The cast is terrific. In the first episode, watch for the scene where Fiona plays Army with the little boy. It's hysterical! Better yet, is the scene where she goes with Michael to meet the villainess at the pool. Jeffrey Donovan is dressed in a black square-cut. Loved him ever since he was in "The Pretender." Or I should say that I've lusted after him since then!
