I am proud to say I've never seen an entire episode of American Idol, but because I listen to the radio, I am well acquainted with the winners and cast-offs of this show. Having now seen David Archuleta's first video, for "Crush," I have to say it is the most unintentionally ironic video ever. If this kid is straight, I am the Pope. The video has all these shots where he is supposed to be lusting after the leggy blonde girl, but he is clearly ogling her very hot boyfriend, and singing about how he has to tell the truth about how he feels.

Yeah, I see a stint on Spamalot and a People cover in his future, if you know what I mean. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Although I still think he is a douche. He had 3 record deals, and counting the one he recently got...that make 4. Dude, if this one doesn't work, just give it up.

He actually gives a performance (the only MJ performance) that I liked in this episode. He sings an acoustic version of "To Love Somebody".

In Japan, Elliott Yamin's first single from his new cd will be "You Say" rather than "Fight For Love". I was in a mall this evening and I caught myself humming to "Fight for Love" today as they were playing it in the mall.

The latest JPL's excellent "American Nobody" webisode is up. His guest is Diana DeGarmo and they even talk about Mama DeGarmo and her shoppin for fabric and the local piggly wiggly! Kidding on the shopping, but they do mention Mama Degarmo. Diana is funny in the interview and has really grown up into an articulate woman.

It's always interesting to hear interviews with the "older idols" and their experience in the "real world" post idol as opposed to the "new alumni" and their bright eye and bushy tail look on being "stars".

Sky Elobar also does a guest segment. This guy just cracks me up.

Taking a little detour to Europe, and the gayest competition ever, well, except for the the Mr. Assmaster competition, but Eurovision 2009 has just crowned their winner and it's a little Hobbit from Norway named Alexander Rybak with his song "Fairytale" and his golden fiddle....and dancing men....and exploding fireworks...and the two girls wearing gowns straight off the rack of the Lawrence Welk collection. I must say, young Alexander is quite plucky and quite the showman....which is what Eurovision is all about.
