Blake Lewis previews his latest song "Sad Song" taken from the upcoming "Heartbreak On Vinyl". I like this one.

"Sad Song"

Phil Stacey detours away from country and goes Christian Pop/Rock route.

"You're Not Shaken"

Off-idol related, sort of. Ryan Teddar has the demo of the song he co-wrote and co-produced "Battlefield" that is Jordin's latest single. I like Ryan's version better mainly because when Jordin sings it I just think she is singing about the battle for her promise ring.

Battlefield - Guy version

And Kelly does a gorgeous rendition of her latest single, "Already Gone" also written by Ryan Teddar. This one is more acoustic and without the trademark One Republic sound.

Chris Daughtry smashes Kelly's record. Not too shabby for a fourth-place finalist. No big surprise, tho. He was certainly my fave the year that he lost.

One reviewer gives Adam Lambert kudos in the land of The Boss, though he did not seem impressed with Kris Allen following him.

Personally I don't think huge stage shows are Allen's strong suit. He needs a more intimate setting to be heard, both literally and figuratively.
mdterp01
Is Jordin Sparks only gig to sing the National Anthem? I think I've seen her sing that song more times than I've seen her sing any song from her album. She just sang it at the Cowboys opener against the Vagiants, and she sang it during the playoffs last year in Arizona for the NFC Championship game. I could swear I've seen her sing it somewhere else before...a baseball playoff game perhaps. I know I've heard her sing it at least 3 times.

Agreed on both points. I can see Kris doin a MTV Unplugged concert.

In his blog, Chris Sligh gives words of advice to the recent and future graduates of American Idol High.

In summation, work hard and do it yourself because nobody cares.

I didn't like Best Buy Sligh, but he does speak the truth.

Blake Lewis' 2nd cd, "Heartbreak On Vinyl". Very 80's.

Anybody like Kris Allen's song? Anyone? "Live Like We're Dying"...more like I'm dying listening to him sing that song.

Carrie's "Cowboy Casanova" which sounds like something Shania would have recorded.

Yes! Audio Day Dream. And it's actually very good. I wasn't a fan of his when he was on the show. But when I first heard his CD, I was very impressed by it. It was very poorly (actually not) promoted. Which is too bad. It could've been a hit with the right backing. If you get a chance to check it out, do so! Can't wait to hear the new one.

I agree, actually, Terp- Audio Day Dream was like a nice flashback to the 1980s... a nice surprise that wasn't even attempted to be promoted.... but I remember a lot of sporting commercials using "Break Anotha"

Maddog
Thanks for the link. Didn't care for it. The songs are more of a parody of 80's songs.

However I did like the stuff on the Landon Pigg album. Do you recognize Track 4?

I really liked Blake Lewis's "Audio Day Dreams" as well.

BTW, Syesha Mercado will be playing Deena in "Dreamgirls" at the Apollo Theater in NYC. Actually, I think the production is touring, although I'm not sure what the other stops are.

Gentlemen. I think we have a star.

I see visions of a futuristic underground of sensual delights enlaced in a tale of heartbreak, chemical stimulants and black humor that sustains the hero long enough to vanquish all negativity and find true love.

Make me an offer for plot details.

The track however...ehhh! Not so much. Doesn't make me orgasmic. But I can see it becoming a top 40 hit, even #1.

It's better than that other track from the "2012" soundtrack, though.

Kris Allen "Live Like We're Dying"

The Video

Danny Hokey Gokey is about to release his single called "It's Only" and is a Country/Christian song. I would post it, but I don't care about him so you can track it down yourself if you really really really want to hear Mr. Hokey.

The 30 second previews of the tracks on Adam Lambert's "For Your Entertainment" are also available on video.

The title rocks, and will probably loosen male minds and hips - for better or worse - around the world as this video by an enthusiaste demonstrates.

"Sure Fire Winners" might catch on as a cheer song, which may be the intent.

But my favorite recorded snippet may be "Soaked" which gives near a capella focus to that incredibly mellifluous range and sweatty power of his, without the screeching that often occurs in live performance.

And "Time For Miracles" could become a popular anthem despite it's horrid misuse in a recent awful movie.

Movie soundtracks: where great music goes to die.

Brokeback Mountain was, unfortunately, not a springboard for Gustavo Santaolalla's stunning beautiful work.

He was the winner, wasn't he?

Allison Iraheta album preview.

Here

This is one that I was really looking forward to because Adam and Allison were the only ones I liked last season. And, to my delight she has recorded "Holiday" a song that Rockstar Supernova runner-up Dilana co-wrote and recorded as her first single and I f*ckin loved it. Allison might be a little young but she sounds much older than her actual age.

Ditto + Matthew Giraud- if you watch an interview on EW by Michael Slezak- he is so funny and took all the criticism in stride. Liked him more after seeing his interview.

For some reason I missed the live broadcast of Adam Lambert's last Idol performance "No Boundaries" and just today stumbled onto this video version with a well-synced overlay of a pre-recording.

Two things-

1- It brought me to tears.

2- Randy Jackson is an idiot.

According to OUT magazine, 19 Entertainment Adam's record label didn't want him to look too "gay" for their cover. rolleyes.gif

...Get real people everyone knows that he's gay, duh! & who could forget his Cheresque outfit he wore during one of his Idol performances.
Joe in Philly
Entertainment Weekly discussed this. To me it's simple: OUT mag = lame rag.

And this is a pretty awesome commentary as well.
SCTrojan
Loved that HP link Joe!

I read the OUT interview (only pt. 1) & it was interesting. I do like Adam's openness & honesty. & the pix of him on pg. 2 is smokin hawt (& I mean that in a rock star way)!...

The LA Times gave his album a decent review. smile.gif
