Full Version: Does this happen ...
Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > About the Board

When I'm looking at a thread, all of a sudden the page changes. To a page with question marks falling down. When you do a page up, you see that it's some sort of survey.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I've had to hit the back button and it takes me back to the forum listing. Then I go back to the thread I was trying to read before.

It's weird, like some kind of Pop Up.

It happened to me once, it was like a pinkish/orange page filled w/ ?'s

I couldn't get rid of it until I closed out the whole browser.

Get the Flash blocker I mentioned on another thread here (one of the threads about problems with the board, or whatever). The ads that spread across the page and block what you're trying to read are due to the Flash animation. With the Flash blocker you won't see it, only a small "F" icon that you have to click on to activate it.

That "flash animation" must also has large clear spots in it, so that if you try to type on a space where the ad doesn't seem to appear you actually are typing onto the ad, which redirects you to their site instead of performing the function you intended; like, say, logging into the Discussion Board.

It's clever. But it's deceptive as well. Which means that I for one start to have a negative reaction each time I see the ad rather than the positive one I think they want.

Oh, and though I will not mention the advertiser I will mention their competition which is BEST BUY and it's where I preferably shop first. wink.gif

With the Flash blocker I mentioned, besides the small "F" icon you see a box showing where the ad would be. So you can see where to avoid clicking. Of course, if it's one of those moving ads that stays on top even if you scroll, you may have to just refresh.
