Eh, well all year long they havent, so why start now? I mean there are supposedly educated people who still think they play in Tampa!
I thoroughly enjoyed my first playoff game ever last Thursday! Up 2-0 now on the White Sox, and I think we can get 1 win in Chicago. Hope so at least.
I'd really like to know who the brainiac was that decided to put the game on tomorrow as the Bucs at Denver Broncos!

I guess I will have to drag a second TV into the living room!
Let's Go Rays!

Well seems it aint just the Tampa Bay fans they did this to. Phils and Brews play at 1 while the Eagles and Skins are playing.

Florida teams just don't get the love when it comes to baseball- people aren't excited about baseball being there, including Floridians apparently.

I discussed this issue over in the 2008 Division Series thread. Eagles, Bucs and Packers fans were screwed by the schedulers.

Baseball is a distant third most popular sport in Florida, after college football and pro football.

People in Florida like baseball....just not the local teams as much, since most of them have come from other locales, and have deep-seeded loyalties elsewhere...

Somewhat agree Spartan. The U.S. is the melting pot of the world, and Florida is the melting pot of the U.S. I dont mind rooting for a team noone else does or even wants to give any credit, makes ya feel like the underdog!

Even if we did actually win the A.L. East over Boston and New York with a high 40 million dollar payroll!
I am hoping Sonnanstine can right the ship tomorrow and get this series over with! Let's go Rays!

I don't care if there are only 16 NFL games -- watching postseason baseball over anything else is a no-brainer if you care remotely about it.

Good point - the Marlins get their best crowds when teams like the Mets or Cubs are in town, and their fans often outnumber the Marlins fans in their owm ballpark; just as Tampa draws best when the Yankees or Red Sox are in town. I believe the Yankees come down to play the Marlins in 2009; expect sellout crowds. Including yours truly.

I haven't been following the post season much, but I turned on the TV in time to see the final out.
Congrats TB Rays on making it to the AL Championship Series! It's good to see a new team make it to the show.

With the Twins not making the playoffs, the Rays are the team I'm rooting for. Great to see them take out the White Sox so we don't have to listen to Ozz-douche anymore this season. And I especially want the Rays to come out of the AL because (if the Dogers come out of the NL) I couldn't deal with the endless Manny/Red Sox crap.

Crazy money being paid for tickets! I guess it's the norm and just my first time experiencing it. Luckily I got season tickets back in July for half season, so I paid face!
Woo hoo! Let's Go Rays!

Rays are so bright I gotta wear shades! Doh.
Wet or dry Longo is hot!
On a local note, for as much as people b&%@& about the dome, Saturday is supposed to be 89 with high humidity and a 30% chance of rain. I will take sitting in the dome anyday!

Not that I don't appreciate the injection of politics into this thread...which I don't...but I don't get this. Biden I get because he's local. But isn't Obama a White Sox fan? Or was it a Cubs fan? And I don't get the other two's connections at all.

one man's interp: It has more to do with the candidate's place in politics compared to the team's "image" than anything to do with regions or loyalties.
To wit--
Obama-Rays: underdog that could
Biden-Phillies: "qualified" assh*les
McCain-Bosox: hubristic media darlings
Palin-Dodgers: lucky to be here

Yeah, Dan Wheeler sucked with the Astros too. He blew so many games while in Houston.
