Tomorrow is the Red River Rivalry between Texas and OU. This year has both teams coming in highly ranked with OU #1. While its early in the year that sometimes mean a team may not be tested enough to merit the ranking. Dallas has always served as a neutral site for the game sitting halfway between Norman and Austin. With the backdrop of the State Fair of Texas the game has more fun than any other college football game in the country. This year the Cotton Bowl has been expanded to seat 92,000 bringing it into the league of major stadiums in the nation.

College Gameday will be broadcast tomorrow from the State Fair which will be even more unique in that the crowd will be balanced between both Texas and OU, something usually not seen on Gameday.

Two great quarterbacks come into the game - Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford. Fortunately we'll get to see both of these match up one more year as McCoy is a junior and Bradford is a sophmore. The key I think will be in Texas defense containing Bradford, rivaled to be one of the best QBs in the nation.

Being the good Texas Longhorn fan I have to go with Texas over OU - 35-28.

It's 7:15 a.m. and OU still sucks!

Great day in Dallas and ready for the game. All predications are for a close game (whoops, jinxed it) with high scores and decision in the 4th.

This game also sets the stage for the Big 12 Championship which will most likely come down to the winner and Missouri (possibly). That would most likely lead to the National Championship game as well.

The interesting part about the Big 12 schedule this year is that Texas leaves this game and faces Missouri next weekend. OU bypasses Missouri this year so the Big 12 championship could take some interesting turns. If Texas wins and beats Missouri next weekend Texas could march all the way to the National Championship game. If Texas wins and loses to Missouri Texas could still go to the Big 12 championship game and the winner set up for the National Championship game. If OU wins you could have a 1-2 matchup between OU and Missouri in the Big 12 championship and a march to the National Championship game. If, if, if. A lot of ifs.

The significance of this game is HUGE for the National Championship.

Texas FIGHT! Hook 'em Horns!!!

It's 6:35 and OU really sucks! What a game! Both teams looked good and Bradford was left alone to pull OU to where they ended up. Maybe OU will fill in next year but it's evident they are really good but not great.

Texas has Mizzou next week in Austin and Tech in Lubbock towards the end of the season.

BTW, for the rest of you college football fans who are enjoy so so football on the East Coast BIG 12 FOOTBALL is BACK BABY!

Well, it does pay to watch what's going down on the east coast every now and then when it comes to the RRR. This is the 12th year in a row FSU/Miami and Texas/Oklahoma have followed the same pattern. FSU and Texas always win and lose together. Bizzarro stat.

2008: FSU and Texas win
2007: Miami and OU win
2006: FSU and Texas win
2005: FSU and Texas win
2004: Miami and OU win
2003: Miami and OU win
2002: Miami and OU win
2001: Miami and OU win
2000: Miami and OU win
1999: FSU and Texas win
1998: FSU and Texas win
1997: FSU and Texas win

Question: Why did they spend the money to renovate the Cotton Bowl this past year, when the Cotton Bowl game is not going to be played there after 2009???

Question: Why did they spend the money to renovate the Cotton Bowl this past year, when the Cotton Bowl game is not going to be played there after 2009???

The city of Dallas was planning to renovate it anyway hoping to keep the Cotton Bowl in the stadium. They do have other events there but you are correct about the Cotton Bowl moving.

During the State Fair of Texas they play 3 college football games in the stadium with the Red River Rivalry being the biggest of course. There is question as to whether they will move that game to the Jerry Dome but I think it will remain in the stadium. The atmosphere surrounding the game is unmatched anywhere. Where else can you get a football game, midway rides, one of the largest car shows outside Detroit, and of course hand dipped Fletcher's Corny Dogs?

It's just a shame the Cotton Bowl was so greedy as to move to the Jerry Dome. One thing the renovated stadium doesn't have is suites and there's really no way to put them in the Cotton Bowl. One of the classic bowl games will become a thing of the past as it becomes the Jerry Bowl.

I'm really curious how the polls end up today with both LSU and Mizzou losing and Alabama idle. I almost hate to see Texas move into #1 and face the jinx.

The Cotton Bowl wants to be added to the BCS line up and the only way to do that was in a domed stadium because the weather in January is unpredictable in Dallas. That's why the game has been moved to JerryWorld.

The Cotton Bowl stadium in Fair Park has been trying to get other big name colleges to play there (such as the recent agreeement between Texas A&M/Arkansas to play at JerryWorld). They've been working on TX Tech/OK State and Notre Dame/anybody. Dallas and North Texas is a recruting hotbed, so there's a lot of interest.

TX/OU is guaranteed through 2015 at Fair Park I believe. NONE of the fans want it moved to JerryWorld because the atmosphere set in the largest State Fair in the US is incredibly unique. It's been that way since 1929. The schools would only move the game because of $$$, but they have alumni threatening to cut off donations if that happens. I hope it never moves. I can't imagine GameDay being broadcast from the asphalt jungle at JerryWorld. Oy.
