Thanks for the great pics! I saw my last game at Shea in mid-July, and even then you could tell just how impressive CitiField was shaping up to be.
That said, they had better drag that sorry looking top hat/apple over to the new stadium, or I will have one very crestfallen nephew to console at our first game.

I wish there was one thing that distinguished Citi from every other new stadium. Sure theres going to be the Apple, outside of that it looks bland and boring. If anything the giant scoreboard from RF in Shea would've been cool.
The new Yankee stadium looks really, really nice on the other hand. Say for that noose hanging in what looks to be a trophy room.

2 more ballparks to hit...should be up to about 120 or so after this season

I think it's better to wait for it to be finished. When everything is done it may not look as bad as you think. And if the Mets get a new scoreboard like the one the Nationals have, I think you won't miss the old one a bit.

It will be a good place to watch a game. I guess the distinguishing characteristic is supposed to be The Jackie Robinson Rotunda and also maybe all the concourse areas having a view of the field, as opposed to that small slice near Gate C by the field level seats at Shea.

Thanks for that link- I enjoyed looking at those pics (all 182!). It will be weird next year- nothing better than a championship to make a new park feel like home

The two new stadia are a $1.5 billion ripoff of NY taxpayers. Thank you, King Bloomberg.

I find the coffee cup in that cup holder to be really funny.
And I still think the new Yankee Stadium looks better.

yankee stadium is 500 million dollars more expensive than citi field. it's not only better, it's probably the best stadium now. having said that, it's tough to compare the two. they're both trying to be different things. the yankees wanted to give that cathedral of baseball type of thing. it has a museum type quality because of its history and everything baseball-related that happened there. on the other hand, the mets attempt to go back to the days of ebbets field. it's smaller and more intimate than YS. the brick wall facade and rotunda look very nice and classy. i can't really complain.

Both stadiums are going to be smaller than the current ballparks.
The Yankees decided they would not sell naming rights; they felt it was just not appropriate for them, and I agree with them.
The Mets could conceivably have to remove/change the stadium name before they ever take the field. Citibank's stock is down 80% the past six months and they're looking for help from the government - it's tough to justify a $20 million per year vanity stadium name when you're looking for help from taxpayers and laying off employees.

Maybe it will be when it's actually finished. When there's still construction material and incomplete projects all over, I can't really form an opinion on a park.
It would be interesting if the government actually tried to get Citibank to cancel the $20m/yr deal with the Mets as a condition of any bailout.

mets are getting a lot of heat from the media and fans about this. mets should pull out from the deal, but money is more important for the wilpons.

I still think the new Yankee stadium looks better, even down to the little intricacies of the flags of famous yankees in the hallways. I do like the Pepsi-Cola and the old apple being in Citi Field though.

Instead of posting every pic known to man, how about just a link to the site or sites that have these pics? It's annoying to try and look at a thread and have to wait for dozens and dozens of pics to post before you can actually read the latest post.

Thanks for posting those pictures, Santana! Really appreciate the effort you put into it! Makes me look even more forward to opening day for both teams!
In those pictures of the Yankee offices, I can almost see George Costanza sleeping under a desk!

Goodness, this thread practically crashed my computer. Can we not link to a photo gallery rather then post so many large pictures on the thread?
NY Times:
First impressions of Citi FieldQUOTE
Here are some early impressions from a stroll around a very intimate stadium, which is oddly reminiscent of Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia:
*The Jackie Robinson Rotunda is tastefully done and a major step up from the concrete tunnels and ramps that used to greet fans at Shea Stadium. Robinson’s values are inscribed around the top, along with a quote: "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives." His No. 42 stands in giant blue plastic in the middle and, earlier today, there was already a crowd squeezing by to have their picture taken with it.
*The wide-open concourses make it very easy to get up and scramble to the string of concession stands — I recommend the Shake Shack in center field — without missing a pitch.
*There are some nice touches of nostalgia around the place. The Home Run apple that used to pop out at Shea is now on display behind center field for fans to walk by and the skyline that sat on top of the scoreboard now stands over a couple of concessions nearby.
*The sightlines from most parts of the stadium are excellent, with the seats all angled toward the infield.
*As for the all-important matter of restrooms, here’s what Jeff Gold, a season-ticker holder from Bellmore, N.Y., had to say said when I asked about Citi Field’s biggest improvement: "Have you been to the bathrooms here? They’re clean and they’re huge. It’s a first class facility."

How oddly reminiscent? They were designed by the same firm.
