For all transplanted New Englanders in Las Vegas, there's a terrific spot to watch the Patriots: The Cauldron Tavern, 9140 W Russell, just west of 215, 702 877-9900. For the Pats games, there are a bunch of food & drink specials, Pats t-shirt & jersey giveaways, plus some other fun stuff like the Big Wheels race at halftime. The drink specials during games are OK (e.g., $2 bottles of Sams), but the food is quite a bit better than you'll find at your typical sports bar (honest!).

I saw my first Pats game of the season (I had to work the night of the opener) there yesterday, and I had a great time. The Pats game on the two biggest screens, Pats memorabilia all over the walls, everybody wearing Pats (and a few Sox) T's and jerseys, drinking Sam Adams and Dunkin' Donuts coffee, and (my personal favorite) some BAHstuhn accents you could cut with a knife ... ah, for a few hours it felt like I was home again.

They show the Sox games there too, but without sound, so there isn't always a "scene" there for the Sox games, although I imagine that'll change if we (sorry, a New England thing to refer to one's teams in the 1st-person plural) make it to the playoffs. No, sorry, it's not a specifically gay scene, uh, your typical heteromale atmosphere actually (gee, a sports bar? you don't say), but if there are any other Pats/Sox Outsports guys out there, maybe we could make it one biggrin.gif

If you want to stop by for a Pats or Sox game, zap me an email.
