I caught a little of Venus' match today against Dementieva. It sounded like Lindsay's done, but I can't find any confirmation. Just curious if she announced it yet. Sorry, if it's old news.
Not officially, as far as I know--she pulled out of the tournaments due to a back injury. Of course, neither are Mary Pierce or Jennifer Capriati. Lindsay did say she was retiring when she became pregnant, but then came back and played this year until becoming injured. I haven't heard anything recently--has anybody else?

There hasn't been any official announcement. If her back is OK, I see her playing some into 2009, but that might just be wishful thinking. I would love to see her go to Australia and play, the spring US season, Wimbledon, and then close out on the hard courts in the summer.
Who knows though.

Today during the Venus-Serena match, Barry Mackay was trying to get Lindsay to play the Wimbledon Olympics in 2012. She just laughed at him.
But it didn't exactly sound like she'd quit for good either...

I think she might play a few tournys in 09 just to get out there, but it sounds like she's pretty done.

Read today that she's headed to Oz. Hopefully, she'll be able to play a full schedule this year.

I'm happy she's going. I'd like to think she could do some damage, but most likely she can't. But with a good draw...who knows.
Hopefully she'll go and play a warm up or two before the Open. She really needs some match prep before going intot he Aussie Open cold. She's just not one of those players who can do that. Hate that she most likely won't be seeded either, unless several players above her wind up not playing.

Davenport withdraws from Australia. The reason:
there's something in her uterus

How the hell does a 31 year-old grown woman, a mother of one, a professional athlete, have a "surprise" pregnancy??! That's just idiotic.
We've definitely seen the last of Lindsay on the Tour.

Is she sure it's hers?

Yeah...this has to be it for her. I can't even muster up any emotion for this beyond well wishes. I've said my good byes so many times already.

I miss her in Tennis, I used to get so hyped up before a tournament looking at the draws, seeing when she will play etc.... She played a great game and that all goes away. I need a new person to follow now, but no one is shinning for me.

I'm telling ya...trade one (formerly big girl) in for another (formerly big girl)...go with Dinara! That's what I have done. I love Jankovic as well.
Personality wise though, those two couldn't be more opposit Linds. I love that you just can't tell whether Dinara is going to be happy and excited, or look like she's out for blood. I think I like her because I'm a little afraid of her.
