Just putting out this thread to see if anyone wants to meet at the Bike Stop this Sunday. Joe, mdphl, TedP, Scottie? (yes this game is even one you should see, think Cialis and Paul McCartny). I am sure there are some other Eagles/Bike Stop virgins out there who need to be seen as well.

I can imagine it'll be even more crowded than usual? I can certainly be there, but I just hate the idea of being packed in there, unlike my idea of being seated at a table and getting food & drink service...then again, I guess it'll be crowded everywhere.

This was in today's Daily News in an article about some places to watch the game:

QUOTE
The tri-level Tavern on Camac (243 S. Camac St., 215-545-0900) opens for brunch in the restaurant at 11 a.m.; beginning at 2 p.m., watch the festivities on a large projection TV upstairs or downstairs in the main bar. Look for drink specials, a buffet during the game, giveaways of Eagles hats and T-shirts, and possibly bartenders dressed as cheerleaders.

Joe, Tavern on Camac could work especially if a table is available. Let's see who else is interested.

I'm not sure what their upstairs or downstairs is like, as far as tables are concerned. I wonder if any other places in and around the gayborhood will have something going on? I should pick up the Phila. Gay News tomorrow.

Just giving this a bump...

Wherever we end up, we should get there a bit early to stake out a good location. Plus maybe scottie can show up to say hello and then leave before the game starts since he's not into football...although, the Super Bowl for non-football fans is really still a must-see, for the commercials and whatever debacle the halftime show becomes. wink

I'm not sure how Tavern on Camac (formerly Raffles) will be set up for the game. Key West is another option.

I'm not sure about joining you guys. Just post where you're going. I'm going away most of next week, so the advantage of having the game on at home is being able to do other things while the tv is on (e.g. laundry, paying bills, etc.). Plus not having to put up with cigarette smoke.

Joe - forget about getting a table at the Stop - unless you plan on standing on it tongue.gif The place was so crowded for the NFC Championship game that, as it turned out, Phillyrunner and I were standing in close proximity to one another and had no idea.

I plan on watching the game at the Stop at least at the outset standing in the same place I did for the past two games, wearing the same clothes and talking with the same people (so much for my claim of not being superstitious).

Let me know where you guys will be and maybe we can get together at some point before, during or after the game.

Maybe I could stop at Tavern on Camac after work tomorrow and see if I can find out how it will be set up. Of course, going on the whole superstition angle, I should just stay home like I did for the other 2 playoff games?

I already have my shirts set aside -- same ones I wore for the NFC title game. One in particular I chose specifically: under my Eagles shirt I wanted a t-shirt that came from something good and had good karma, so I wore a t-shirt that I bought in Montreal when we were up there for Memorial Day weekend 2003 since it was such a fun trip. It will be worn again on Sunday.

From the conversation that you and I had on the telephone after that game, it didn't sound as though you had a very hard time getting drinks!! tongue.gif

By the way, your friends in Phoenix will be wearing shorts again this week while we watch the big game. Remember to bundle up when you leave the Bike Stop, we wouldn't want you to catch cold!!

CU here is an olive branch, you are welcome to join us as long as you don't wear your home Cardinals jersey. Sunday won't be awful as far as the weather either, about 50 and sunny. If you fly up I will even give you your first drink free unlike you having to buy for Sting all the time.

BTW Joe, I checked out the webpage for Tavern on Camac and they sound like they are all set for a big day with a couple of big screens and buffet. Maybe we eat there and if we don't want to stay then head on over to the BikeStop.

Well, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot, especially if it's not crowded. How early would you want to meet before the game?

I was thinking about the whole superstition thing. On the one hand I've stayed home for both playoff games and the Eagles won. On the other hand, they're also unbeaten whenever we've gotten together to watch, either at the Bike Stop or the Linc in September. wink

Well, I didn't stop into Tavern on Camac after work, but I have a feeling it'll be okay. At the least, they have a buffet. I don't know if the Bike Stop will have a buffet or just pizza like they have during the regular season. (Key West has a buffet also, I understand.)

So I will plan to be at Tavern on Camac about 3 pm. I hope that's early enough. I'll have my cell phone with me, so if you have my number you can call me to make absolutely sure I'm there. Hope to see you all.

My condolences to you guys regarding the Super Bowl outcome.

The Bike Stop sounds like a fun place to have watched. I've been there 3 times in my life, and have had a blast each visit.
