Full Version: Senator Durbin, what the hell are you thinking?
Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > Politics & Religion
Crew Chief
Just another example of a typical Illinois politician. Every damn one of them from this state is the same!

And this is from the paper that endorsed this moron.
fantomas
I don't know what the hell Durbin was thinking. Did that huge victory cause him to lose about half his gray matter or something? What's next, a preemptive pardon of Blago and every crony of Daley's? Or I guess they're waiting for Obama to take office to start that crap up.
millerbeach
Where, oh where, is good ole MIB when you need him. This story reminds me of the moniker he had for Durbin...Dick Dirtbag. I couldn't agree more. Let Ryan rot in Hell, as far as I'm concerned. What about those six Willis children that were burned to death? Do they get out of their death sentence early? No. Neither should Ryan. George Ryan, worst governor of Illinois. George W. Bush, worst president of the United States. See a pattern here? No more politicians named George. The name is a jinx. (Apologies forward to any Outsports members with the first name of George).
Crew Chief
I don't think MIB's been here for a couple years, miller. IIRC, he and fantomas really railed against Illinois, particularly Chicago, politicians. Personally, I confess that I like Mayor Daley more than MIB and fantomas do, but that's just me.

Speaking of our governor, whose approval ratings are WORSE than President Bush's, believe it or not, the Tribune today is reporting this breaking news that the Feds have tapes of Blagojevich!

OK, who wants to start the betting pool on the date on which Gov. Blago will be indicted? tongue.gif
millerbeach
But Blago says he's innocent! You must believe it, as it was on the front-page of the Chicago Tribune! I was all for Mayor Daley until a few days ago, when he sold the parking meters. Now they will have to be fed 24/7, which is greedy and insane. Hasn't anything that has transpired in the last few months taught Daley anything? Greed is NOT good. What happened to all the billions from the sale of the Chicago Skyway? What about all the city garages he sold? Didn't he also try to sell Midway Airport? Don't we, the taxpayers, own these properties? We do, and I would like to know how Daley can sell off taxpayer items...are they really his to sell?
Crew Chief
How DARE you question what Lord Daley does?!? I think you are in need of some re-education, son. Step into this room so we can "talk" to you. ohmy.gif
Crew Chief
And the plot thickens, miller and fantomas.

Move along. There's nothing to see here.

Miller, I believe you were referring to this.

I fear for our children's generation and the generation of our children's children.
millerbeach
Um, Crew, is that the room where they shock my naughty parts with electric jolts? Sign me up! wink.gif
Crew Chief
No, that's where Mayor Daley and a naked Dick Cheney waterboard you.
millerbeach
I was kinda hopin' Cheney would even take a shower with his clothes on...I do not want that kind of torture. Waterboarding is bad enough, but good God, have some sympathy! Cheney naked is torture enough!

Talk about peas in a pod, or worms in dogsh*t! I can't say anything positive about Blago, so I'll say no more. (Except, why is this idiot taking so much time to name a Senator? Doesn't he realize that the seniority clock is ticking? Obama did the man a favor and he's naturally screwed it up. Plus, is it really going to be Danny Davis? That is just giving the Republicans red meat to toss out when the term is up!)

As for Daley, I think the man and his administration are a corrupt, profligate, walking disaster (Ron Huberman notwithstanding). What's most appalling is that he wants to bring the Olympics to Chicago and finally bankrupt the city while enriching his cronies. Does anyone think that the eminent domain to seize property, construction of new facilities, bonds and levies to pay for the whole shebang, corporate giveaways, and so on would possibly NOT be riddled with corruption and dirty-dealing? The taxpayers of Cook County, the collar counties, Illinois, and the US would be saddled with debt coming out of our ears by the time this crew had finished. It took them a year to pave upper Lake Shore Drive in Uptown, and they're going to construct an Olympic Village? The El is basically falling off the tracks in places and they're going to create new lines? Saint Ignatius Loyola! I don't know what the answer is, though; the people running against him are usually jokes. In a city of over 2.8 million people, some of them very smart and talented, there's got to be someone else to send Daley back to Bridgeport (or wherever he lives now--Hyde Park? Lake Shore Drive? Winnetka? etc.), and I don't mean Jesse Jackson Jr. (charming as he is).

Oh, and did you all note today that, surprise surprise, the Tribune Company is BANKRUPT! Yep, so the Chicago Tribune is in the toilet, as are the Cubs and their stadium. That Zell sure is a genius, ain't he?
Crew Chief
Hi, fantomas:

Is it wrong of me, I sometimes wonder, to quietly hope that Chicago does NOT get the 2016 Olympics? I have two reasons for this: corruption, as you mentioned above, and the traffic/logistical mess.

The corruption is also the primary reason I have always been opposed to a casino in the city if Chicago were to own it. While I think it'd be a big plus to have a major casino in Chicago, Daley has always said he would never allow it unless it was owned and operated by the city. Pardon my French, but is he phucking crazy?!? Can you imagine ANYthing, fantomas, filled with MORE corruption that a casino owned and operated by the city of Chicago?

millerbeach
OMG! Fantomas, you just had to bring up Ron Humberman. Oh, he really does make me swoon! God, is he hot! A friend of mine works at CTA and I beg her to let me know the scoop on him...I will be ready to swoop in should there ever be trouble in paradise...you know, only to be there to console and comfort him! laugh.gif As for LSD, WTF? Has it been declared a third-world road yet? It is ungodly north of Irving Park. As for the Daley digs, he was suppose to move to the new high-rise on Randolph at Wabash, but that fell through, and he's still in the south Loop. Yup, he's sly like a fox, and, up until this latest incident with the parking meters, I thought he was O.K., but it is now getting out of hand. Sure, sell off the Skyway, Midway Airport, the parking garages, but LEAVE THE STREETS ALONE! We paid for them, they are ours. All the other stuff is optional. I don't have to go to a city garage if I don't want to, I don't have to fly out of Midway, I don't have to take the Skyway if I don't want to be ripped off of $3, but I do need to park my car once I get downtown! As for the Olympics, I too would dislike it if they came to Chicago. My concern is a bit more selfish, though, as I simply do not want to put up with the crush of traffic and idiots standing in the middle of the street looking up at all those tall buildings. Oh, and lastly, Blago is on our station tonight saying he doesn't care who tapes him saying whatever! Careful what you wish for, Blago...Nixon may have said the same thing before Watergate!
Crew Chief
Huberman is, indeed, fetching. wink.gif
fantomas
Millerbeach and Crew Chief, it just gets better and better! (Miller, you called this one--yes, definitely think twice about what you say, especially when you are babbling about selling of a Senate seat, trying to get editorial writers fired, and looking to hook up yourself and your sleazy wife! And people thought George Ryan was bad!)

Governor Blagojevich arrested for attempting to sell off Obama Senate seat, says he wanted the money.
Crew Chief
The more things change, the more they stay the same. sad.gif

The corruption continues. Only the party labels change. Same ole, same ole in this cesspool of a state.

Perhaps one that's regulated by the state of Pennsylvania, maybe? Our indicted state senator Vincent Fumo was foaming at the mouth to get a cut of the casinos here in Philadelphia where he owns a mansion that he has paid property taxes on that are far below what lesser homes cost; not to mention the other corrupt practices he is being charged with.

Despite the economic recovery Governor Rendell helped bring to the city, I have always felt that the casino system he supports is an invitation to corruption.
