And the plot thickens, miller and fantomas.
I fear for our children's generation and the generation of our children's children.
Talk about peas in a pod, or worms in dogsh*t! I can't say anything positive about Blago, so I'll say no more. (Except, why is this idiot taking so much time to name a Senator? Doesn't he realize that the seniority clock is ticking? Obama did the man a favor and he's naturally screwed it up. Plus, is it really going to be Danny Davis? That is just giving the Republicans red meat to toss out when the term is up!)
As for Daley, I think the man and his administration are a corrupt, profligate, walking disaster (Ron Huberman notwithstanding). What's most appalling is that he wants to bring the Olympics to Chicago and finally bankrupt the city while enriching his cronies. Does anyone think that the eminent domain to seize property, construction of new facilities, bonds and levies to pay for the whole shebang, corporate giveaways, and so on would possibly NOT be riddled with corruption and dirty-dealing? The taxpayers of Cook County, the collar counties, Illinois, and the US would be saddled with debt coming out of our ears by the time this crew had finished. It took them a year to pave upper Lake Shore Drive in Uptown, and they're going to construct an Olympic Village? The El is basically falling off the tracks in places and they're going to create new lines? Saint Ignatius Loyola! I don't know what the answer is, though; the people running against him are usually jokes. In a city of over 2.8 million people, some of them very smart and talented, there's got to be someone else to send Daley back to Bridgeport (or wherever he lives now--Hyde Park? Lake Shore Drive? Winnetka? etc.), and I don't mean Jesse Jackson Jr. (charming as he is).
Oh, and did you all note today that, surprise surprise, the Tribune Company is BANKRUPT! Yep, so the Chicago Tribune is in the toilet, as are the Cubs and their stadium. That Zell sure is a genius, ain't he?
