The smack talk continues. Hamels was being interviewed on WFAN for some reason...

Question: Do you think the Mets are choke artists? A lot of Mets fans think they are. Do you look at it from afar and say, honestly, we know they are going to find a way to lose this thing.

Hamels: Last year and this year, I think we did believe that. Three years ago, we didn’t because they smoked everybody. I really thought was the year they were going to go to the World Series. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. That’s kind of what we believe and I think we will always believe it until they prove us wrong.

Q: Wow. It's worth repeating, you say the Mets are choke artists.

Hamels: Yeah, for the past two years they’ve been choke artists.

wish i could hate philly and their fans the way they hate the mets/NY, but this rivalry is way too novel for me. i mean the one team that i hate with every fiber of my being is the braves. and i just don't feel that way to the phils. smack talk, collapse, and WS champions and all.

i'm a little surprised with what hamels said, considering he's the face of the franchise and one of the best young pitchers today. i kinda expected that maybe from jimmy, but i'm not miffed or anything. the interview wasn't bad.

This high-pitched squeak (no wonder he lost that bar fight) will sell a few extra tickets, maybe. And maybe the ninny's arm will fall off.

Maybe Santana's arm will fall off. Or K-Rod. Or Putz. Wagner's already has. Is that what you're reduced to?

And seeing as how the Phillies will be defending their world championship and the Mets are opening a new ballpark, ticket sales obviously aren't an issue.

It's amusing that the interviewer was the one who brought the issue up first. It would've been easy enough to give a boring, bland, non-offensive reply.

I haven't been reduced to going on, or listening to, sportstalk radio.

I think that's the reason why it honestly didn't bother me all that much. It wasn't like Hamels went out of his way to bash the Mets. If the interviewer had not brought it up, Hamels probably would not have either. Mostly manufactured by the media.
