No, it's not a show about William Hung. According to the Hollywood Reporter, HBO has given the go-ahead for a new series about a guy who's, um, hung. ohmy.gif
QUOTE
The pay cable network has picked up the dark comedy pilot starring Thomas Jane to series.

The order for the project, from "The Riches" creator Dmitry Lipkin and Colette Burson, is said to be for 10 episodes, with the launch eyed for June.

"Hung" stars Jane as Ray, a well-endowed struggling high school basketball coach who figures out a way to use his best asset.

The sexual aspect will be a major source for comedy but not the main focus of the series, said Lipkin and Burson, who are already writing Episode 5.

"It has its sexual moments, but the show is very much about what's happening in the country, how people are trying to survive using what God had given them," Lipkin said.

Uh-huh. Then why call it "Hung"? Why not call it by some other name?

And are they going to show this alleged endowment? Or just a close-up of some woman's face while she screams "IT'S SOOOOOOOOO BIG!!!!!" rolleyes.gif

is it just me or does this sound like a really stupid idea for a TV show

I think that I am going to give it a chance. The buzz around shows can sometimes surprise you in a good way versus when you actually see them. "The Riches" was amazing so this shouldn't be a complete failure.

I am not very familiar with Thomas Jane and whether or not he can live up to that title.Maybe!

Ray,I guess I'm too old. Goldfrapp????????

Actually Eddie I'm not crazy about that song or the band. The title of the song, however, is hysterical & it seemed appropriate for the "hung" reference. R wink.gif

And here I thought it would be a rewrite titled "Big Guys Don't Cry"

Gosh! That's what I HATE 'bout boards/email. No matter how much one tries to express oneself/joke 'bout something, the affect is never the same as when one knows the other individual personally. If anyone here knew me personally, & my sense of humor, then perhaps s/he would understand where I'm coming from...Oh well! C'est la vie. wink.gif

PS Not even emoticons help sometimes.

Hung starts this Sunday. The preview is up (so to speak). "It's hard to make an indecent living."

There's also a Facebook page (4,058 fans so far, and the show hasn't even started).

From what I've read about it, it's not very good. I don't have HBO so I can't watch it anyway, but it seems like the title is a major tease -- it won't be explicit enough to show his endowment and without that, it's hard to understand why any women would want to pay to be with him.

This show is getting the worst reviews for an HBO show since the wretched John from Cincinnati...and that show was almost unwatchable.

I saw much of Hung and didn't think it was that bad. Of course, that Thomas Jane could be reading the yellow pages and I would be paying attention. I'll watch the next episode and see. The first episode was just a set-up: we find out about his dire straits (divorced, house fire), he goes to a get-rich seminar and told to find his "winning tool" (which, he admits, is "I have a big dick"), and he goes on his first assignment (the customer spies him through the peep hole of a hotel room and changes her mind--what?!). So, we haven't seen him actually do any actual gigolo-ing yet.

Actually, last week while we were in Sedona, I was reading one of their local papers about the show (I tried searching for it online but to no avail). The article said that the show doesn't plan to show his dong but that there will be many "teasing scenes." So you're prolly right Joe.

It might be too early to judge.

The first episode was funny and entertaining.

I think the lead character is attractive because he is real. He doesn't look plastic and too worked out.

I look forward to watching.

One of my sisters works for LA's Natural History Museum & she told me that he went to visit the museum w/ 2 kids on Sun. She also said that she thought he might be a bit of a egomaniac considering that when he 1st got there his shirt was buttoned, but when he left w/ the kids he had his shirt completely unbuttoned showing off his chest. The museum is air-conditioned so it wasn't like he was hot or anything like that. rolleyes.gif

& grant it I think he's sexy in his own way, but ugh to the shirt adjustment! dry.gif
Texas Daytripper
I like the opening where Thomas is stripping down, before plunging in the lake.

Hung delivers.

QUOTE
The Sunday premiere was watched by a total of 3.7 million viewers (after replay numbers were added in), making the drama the network's highest rated series premiere since 2007's "John From Cincinnati," which followed "The Sopranos" series finale.

I saw most of the second episode of Hung, where Ray goes out on his first (sexual) assignment. Prior to this, Tanya, his friend/pimp is talking on the phone with the, uh, client, who asks, "Will he lick my @ss?" ohmy.gif

We do get to see a glimpse of Ray's booty, and see him run through a house naked looking for his clothes (he has to rush off to work--he's a teacher--after spending the night with the client), plus a variety of sexual positions with this very demanding (female, ugh) client.

QUOTE
The HBO comedy "Hung" had 3.6 million viewers on Sunday for its second episode, up 29 percent from its premiere. It is considered a very strong sign for a series to gain viewers from a premiere, which draws more of the curious viewers.
