There was no stopping Fitzgerald in this game except for about 10 minutes when the Eagles got pressure on Warner. I was surprised that the Eagles made a game of it in the 4th quarter but not surprised that the Cards mounted a final comeback given their firepower. While McNabb is a decent QB that most teams would want, the thing he is not good at is coming from behind in a drive in the last two minutes of a playoff game to win it.
I congratulate the Cardinals the Cinderella team, but not Kurt Warner who once again believes it's God's will that he is winning.

At least the haters are happy today. I guess when your baseball team chokes two years in a row and your football team defends its title by losing to the pathetic team that lost today, you need something to keep you warm at night.
Amazing how the Eagles managed again to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The defense was pathetic in the first half and turned it around in the second half. But once the Eagles got the lead, whatever the defense was doing, they stopped doing it. And there would've been no comeback if it weren't for the officials screwing up that kickoff that they ruled out of bounds. Then again, the comeback would've been stronger if the officials called pass interference on at least one of the two times when they didn't -- I'm not as convinced as some are about the Curtis play at the end but the first-half play to Avant (I think) was absolutely a penalty. And David Akers missing an extra point, indoors? How is that possible? That and his missed field goal (long, but should've made it) had a ripple effect on the rest of the game. The offense was too inconsistent, as it often is. McNabb made some great throws but also made some awful throws that, had they been accurate, would've gone for long yardage. It's a fitting end, because this team didn't deserve to make the playoffs based on their overall season performance and would've been sitting home had it not been for Tampa Bay's choke job.
If Baltimore wins they'll beat Arizona.
If Pittsburgh wins they'll crush Arizona.

what's wrong with thanking god for winning the game?
i'm not a religious person, but people thank god all the time for any good thing that happens.
kurt's a good guy and he's been a tremendous football player.

It's not about being religious in your personal life it's about wearing it on your sleave and pushing the agenda everywhere you go. Remember you an I will go to hell according to him. And think about it everytime the player does something good he thanks God but does he ever thank him when things go bad? I mean afterall it is God's will isn't it?

So with the Cards winning today, that leaves only the Saints, Jaguars, Browns, Lions and Texans as the only teams to never reach the Super Bowl.
The Steelers open as a 6 1/2 point favorite.

Warner's religiosity bothers me because it's so in-your-face and arrogant, as if he has all the right answers. I do not want him to win the SB, which is why I wanted Philly and now want the Steelers.

Technically if you think about it, sports can be a new religion. Now listen to me before laughing, bet you are already. Forget all aspects of actual religion and have the top player of any sport act as a god. Referring to polytheism instead of monotheism.
Although, if someone is actually religious and you see them on their knees on the field (nothing sexual) and praying to god or repeating verses out of the bible, well, you ought to think outside the box and question the person's sanity. In lack of a shorter post, I agree with your post.

I agree with Jim....Warner is way in-your-face about his religion....Every time I hear about these guys (athletes, actors winning awards) wanting to thank their God, I just want to shout, "God doesn't choose sides on athletic competition or Oscar races!"

Like him or not, Warner played a fine game yesterday. The Eagles came back during the second half, much as they did in the latter part of the season (to the consternation of this Giants' fan

), but the Cardinals were able to take it back in large measure because of the leadership of Warner. Due credit also has to go to Larry Fitzgerald. Always had a thing for guys who were "Black Irish."
As for Warner's evangelical faith...for what it is worth, he claims he doesn't want to be "in-your-face" about it.
Courier Post ArticleI always thought that God has more important things to handle than the outcome of a game. Though there've been times when I've said a "Hail Mary" at a game. It didn't work last Sunday. Should have said a novena!!

Just how tacky, tasteless and classless were the Steelers yesterday with Willis MaGahee laid out almost completely motionless and the PA system is blaring Creedance Clearwater Revival and Santana? Whoever was responsible for that should be in a shitload of trouble this morning.

Meh, I like Santana. The old stuff, not the newer stuff.
While I'm not a fan of any of the teams that came to this point, I do wish the Eagles had won. I was pretty upset, I think I saw a few streams run down my dad's face.
I was promised something great if the Eagles won, I dunno if I'll still get it.

Oh and how lame was Steelers WR Limus Sweed laying on the ground acting injured when he dropped that sure TD pass? I've seen lts of guys in all my years of playing competitive and recreational sports that have done the same thing...a real sign of immaturity.

As so many people fail to realize (because they're not listening because of being turned off), athletes, actors and rap stars that choose to thank "God" when they succeed or win a particular event or award, are not doing it for the event that they won. They are thanking God for blessing them with the talent or drive that allowed them to perform to their best ability. I think fans are probably more guilty of "praying" that their favorite team or athlete is "going to win"!!

I don't agree with Joe or Jim that Warner must keep his sentiments private, because they are religious in nature. He enjoys, as do we all, the right to speak his mind freely. I may disagree that the Almighty has influenced the outcome of a game, and more importantly, I disagree with evangelical and other conservative Christian views on a range of issues. But let him give credit to whomever he wants.
More importantly, religion can prove to be an engine for powerful change. Sadly, only a few voices are crying out in the wilderness for us, namely Robinson and Tutu. But more will join them. Allow me to list a few names who have worked for social justice, motivated by their religious convictions:
Countless personalities of the Abolitionist and Civil Rights Movements
Albert Schweitzer
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Oscar Romero
Ida Ford
Dorothy Day
Elie Wiesel
I'm glad that they spoke their minds. Warner may not be in their company, but let him say what he wishes. We could always challenge him by raising our voices!
