Did anyone see Washington's DC Gay men's chorus perform today? I watched the entire 2 hour event. It didn't hit me until after wards that I missed it.

Also,

I totally missed Rev. Gene Robinson, the first openly gay bishop of the Episcopal Church, who was slated to give the invocation at the Sunday celebration.

I obviously missed a lot of the details and was to caught up in the celebration and performances. lol

IMO, it was a great celebration of all of America. We've evolved and matured as a country. It was on display today. Well done! We rarely have moments where we should collectively pat ourselves on the back. This is one of the times.

It's a great time to be an American!

Michael Kandel of Douglaston, Queens, decided in October to attend Barack Obama's inauguration, he said, when his partner's 82-year-old mother decided to vote for the Illinois senator.

"And she only did it because our 8-year-old said, 'But Grandma, McCain doesn't recognize our family.' "

Kandel, 49, a gay sixth-grade English and history teacher at Mineola Middle School, has attended large gay-rights and AIDS-awareness rallies in the capital and wanted his family to share in such a large political event.

"I know the feelings conjured up by being in D.C.," he said. "There's a powerful sense of community when attending a political event. This is one that my partner and I knew we didn't want to miss."

That's on smart kid! biggrin.gif

I do have to ask, is McCain actually against any type of gay rights? I always thought that was Palin's agenda. I know both candidates weren't pro-gay marriage. I do know the Obama campaign was pro-rights for GLBT individuals. I don't follow politics at all so please excuse this rather blond post on my behalf.
