The next cycle kicks off next month. The cast includes stuntman brothers who stand 4'9" tall, a deaf person and actor/screenwriter Mike White who you may know from the indie movie "Chuck and Buck"

And, Mike White is joined by his dad, the Rev. Mel White.

I had no idea they were related. Interesting, considering that Mike is openly bisexual.

I might actually consider watching this show.

When I watched their introductory video, I remarked about what a cool old guy Mike's dad is, but didn't recognize him as Mel White, whom I've long admired as a gay activist and the founder of Soulforce.

TAR is the only reality show I've ever gotten into (Thanks, Jim Allen!), and Season 14 looks to be another great mix of teams and destinations -- can't wait!

Can't wait for the season to start!

Tonight's the night.

Pretty good first episode. The cheese challenge was awesome, one of the better challenges they've had in a long while.

Very inspiring finish too. Did anybody else notice Victor (from the brother & sister team) wipe away tears when Luke (via his mother) was explaining why he wanted to do Amazing Race.

*Victor also sent off my Gaydar.

I thought it was a fun episode. The bungee jump was awesome. I don't know if I could have done it.

And something about people falling combined with cheese rolling down a hill made me laugh.

The cheese challenge was great! Amazing that the young couple lost to the hillbillies although kudos to the husband for his work in the cheese challenge. I would LOVE to go to Switzerland...it looks so beautiful.

Okay nicknames? Luke and his mom-Team Miracle Worker? Yeah I know it's not PC but them winning the first leg was kind of a miracle, no? And the two redheaded women...al I could think of was Team Judd. Yeah they're not fat like Wynonna and Naomi but they do resemble them somewhat.

Curious about something...why wouldn't a deaf person learn to read lips. Is it a political thing within the deaf community like those that are vehemently opposed to the implants? It just seems odd that he wouldn't learn to read lips.

I watched the first episode tonight (repeat on The Travel Channel). Interesting. Certainly not trashy like other shows. I may keep watching...although it'll have to be on Fridays because the Sunday timeslot is bad for me and my DVR.

Linda did the best job she could do! Two teams have been eliminated thus far. Can't wait to watch next Sunday's episode!

I loved how they showed Mel saying he couldn't pray to God for help with the wind because God has more important things to do, or words to that effect. Very refreshing coming from a minister, with so many athletes constantly bringing up how God helped them win.

And then the wind stopped anyway.

I think I'm watching this entire season.

Brad and Victoria got eliminated last show. Victor really needs to learn how to not be so controlling over his sister Victoria.

I can't wait to see some caps.

While it's cool to see a deaf kid doing so well, there is something kind of sad about seeing them winning these legs and the trips that come with the winning. Luke just seems so/too reliant on his mother. I just can't help but think he has no oone to go on these trips with besides his mother. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

Seeing Phil is his underwear was nice. Too bad that the two hot contestants (Kris and Preston) were eliminated already. And I am finding Victor to be one of the more annoying contestants ever. His voice just grates my nerves. His sister seems like a nice girl but he seems like a douche. And my gaydar goes through the roof with him.

I'm enjoying the season so far and the challenges have been good but the teams are kind of dull. I was really disappointed that Kris and his girlfriend were eliminated last week by the Blind U-Turn. I think it would have been so much more interesting if it had been a non-elimination leg last week instead of this week so they could have then tried to figure out who U-Turned them and exact some revenge.

Mel and Mike were eliminated, and it made me a little sad. I'm not sure how interested I am in the show now. I'm still recording it, but we'll see what happens.

Not on this week, preempted by the ACM Awards show.

According to Phil Keoghan's Twittering, CBS has ordered another season of the Amazing Race.

Beside Mel and Mike White, did you know that Kisha and Luke are both openly gay as well?

Mel also has some great things to say about organized religion and the need to stay vigilant and involved in achieving and protecting gay equality: "New freedoms can be lost every generation. Justice can be undone very quickly, and the new generation needs to support the organizations that are representing us, like HRC, NGLF and GLAAD and Lambda Legal, the Defense Fund and Soulforce. They need to start thinking about giving some money."

Last night's episode in Beijing was great, there were some very good quotes, like:
"I'm black, not Chinese" Jen
"He's making me look like Alice Cooper" Margie speaking about Luke

Jamie was looking like Kimmie Gibler from Full House after being dressed up in all the makeup.

Losing the race cause you had to pee. :-( Although I remember from an earlier episode that Jen doesn't wear underwear either, so once it's out, there'd be nothing holding it back. Good thing the mat wasn't destoyed!
